Hey, guys. So I've been playing MMOs for years now, but I've never done any sort of serious PvE. Mostly just solo stuff and RP. Lately, though, I've really been itching to start tanking. Thing is, I have no idea how it's done.

I recently ran Esseles with my lvl 19 Defense Guardian, and the combat droids kept pulling aggro from me. Is that my fault, or is that because of the droids? Either way, I'd still like to know what I'm supposed to do and what my rotation should be. I'd really like a newbie guide because I am pretty much entirely new to group PvE.

Welcome back! I recently returned to my guardian too. Don't worry about your aggro right now. You're only level 20 so you don't have the full set of abilities yet. Honestly when I leveled my guardian I leveled him vigilance for the DPS because it was faster, then switched to defense and love it.

Try the above. I know its only a 4.0 guide, but not a WHOLE lot has changed for 5.0. By the time you reach 70 I'm sure a new guide will be out.

Hope that helps!

Hi guys,

idd dont worry about losing aggro on the droid, he taunts a lot as well. Thats his purpose. You could try a normaL group and see if you can hold aggro there. And a small tip, put your shield on a high dps melee, like a sentinel. They stay close and get the benefit from your shield and moreover you lower their threat.

Its a shame there are no good guides out atm, but statswise most important is mastery and defense.

Make sure you got your accuracy at 110% and that your gear is augmented.

For rotation your can use this:

Good luck and keep tanking. we need more of em!!

Is there a 5.0 guide for PVP Guardian/Tank? I can't seem to find one on Dulfy.

No there isnt. The most popular pvp technique for guardians is apparently skank tanking. I.e. running dps gear in tank spec. I'm assuming with a shield. I personally have started just running vig in pvp but I don't do ranked.

I'm working from memory, but I seem to remember that the skank tank setup was to take the tanking armorings and mods with DPS enhancements, a shield, and DPS relics and implants. You still want to maximize your Endurance for survivability, but throw DPS improvements on top of that.
