Rakghoul Resurgence event guide [WIP]

Hey everyone, the Rakghoul event started in the early mornings of Jan 21 (for North Americans) and I was able to catch about an hr of the event before the servers went down. Here is what I have so far in terms of a guide for the Rakghoul event. Alot of it is fairly self-explanatory but it might help some.

Alternative link (incase site goes down):

:rak_03:How to Start

You will find new terminals on the fleet. Interacting with it will give you a small cutscene and a quest. You will also receive the codex entry for THORN. You will complete this quest once you arrive inside the Rakghoul tunnels in Alderaan, which will reward you with 8730 credits, 2 Basic Commendations and THORN Booster Pin (green rep item).

You will need to head out to Alderaan and talk to Doctor Ressel (Empire) outside House Thul or Tralie Masoon (Republic) outside House Organa. You will also get the codex entry Rakghouls on Alderaan when you arrive on Alderaan.

Once you have talked to them, you will need to travel to the location of The Spike, a giant drill located in King’s Pass to access the Rakghoul tunnels. Walking near The Spike will give you the codex entry for it.

:rak_03:Rakghoul tunnels and dallies

You will find a bunch of dallies on the mission terminal as well as the datapad nearby. You will also get the codex entry Rakghoul Propagation when you enter the tunnels. Alot of the dallies are fairly self explanatory so I won't bother with it here. If you need any help you can check the guide linked above. These are Empire version of the names, I will add the Republic ones once I get there.

  • Contagion Zone: [Daily] Collecting Rakghouls – 5 minutes Reward: 8730 credits, 2 Basic Commendations and 1 THORN Booster Pin (green rep item).
  • Contagion Zone: [Daily] Dissecting the Plague Reward: 8730 credits, 2 Basic Commendations and 1 THORN Booster Pin (green rep item).
  • [Daily] The Tunnel Network Reward: 8730 credits, 2 Basic Commendations, 1 THORN Booster Pin (green rep item), and 1 Rakghoul DNA Canister
  • Infested Pathways: [Daily] All that Remains Reward: 8730 credits, 2 Basic Commendations and 1 THORN Booster Pin (green rep item).
  • The Epicenter – [Heroic 4] Fungal Corruption Reward: 13620 credits, 4 Basic Commendations, 1 Engraved Rakghoul Claw (blue rep item), 2 Rakghoul DNA Canisters

Rakghoul Tunnels

Rakghoul tunnel is divided into 3 sections: Contagion Zone, Infested Pathways, The Epicenter. They are all interconnected with each other. Epicenter is where you will find the Jawa vendor Jeelvic and is also the location for the [Heroic 4]

:rak_03:Jeelvic the Jawa Vendor

Everyone’s favourite Jawa vendor Jeelvic is back! He can be found in The Epicenter area of the Rakghoul tunnels but before you bolt your way to there, grab a one time quest off the Contagion Zone as that will not only lead you to Jeelvic but also give you 1 Rakghoul DNA Canister.

What does Jeelvic sell? Lots of stuff

  • Black-Green crystals
  • Pets
  • Infected Mounts
  • Exchange old Rakghoul DNA samples from last event back in 2012 for Rakghoul DNA Canister at a ratio of 50:1 (50 samples for 1 canister)

Plaguetail Kowakian Monkey-lizard: 10 Rakghoul DNA Canister 1 Barnacle of the Eyeless 1 Symbiotic Fungal Bloom 1 Exotic Plague Specimen

Infected Dewback 50 Rakghoul DNA Canister 1 Barnacle of the Eyeless 1 Symbiotic Fungal Bloom 4 Exotic Plague Specimen

Infected Varactyl 25 Rakghoul DNA Canister 1 Barnacle of the Eyeless 1 Symbiotic Fungal Bloom 2 Exotic Plague Specimen

Is it possible to earn all of the rewards as a solo player or is it like Gree where you pretty much have to raid to get enough event currency to buy the rewards? The Gree event is far too raid or die for my tastes and it looks like they might have ruined Rakghoul with the same focus.

On a related note, I'd be happy to switch guilds if there are any mature, friendly guilds on Po5 that wouldn't mind my casual, altoholic ways. My 55s are on the Empire side, but my Republic characters will get there soon too. I'd love to start doing HM flashpoints and SM ops, but my skin isn't thick enough to pug them. :rak_02:

How long will this event last? I'm worried about getting all my alts through it before it goes away.

I'm assuming it needs to last at least several weeks due to the rep needed for legend status and the weekly rep cap (see dulfy for numbers).

Anybody know the event duration?

Thanks for the info!

A couple of questions:

- are the event tokens (rak canisters) BoP? or can we send them to alts? very annoyed that I have all those unused gree tokens sitting unused on alts

- any idea how long this event will last? I'm wondering just how nuts I have to go repeating dailies and Eyeless raids across alts to get Legend rep before it ends or if it's even possible with the 12k rep weekly cap. not very fun to have to wait until after the event is over to get Legend. so ideally the event will last 6 weeks (is it 70k total rep? can't remember)

This feels like another one-off event (I don't call 2 years recurring) so I'm concerned that I have to go crazy taking off work on Tuesdays and running raid after raid stacking purple trophies across all my 55 alts to get enough banked before the event ends in order to hit legend by the 5th or 6th weekly rep cap reset. would be much more fun if I could take my time :/

DNA Canisters are unfortunately BOP. No idea on length sorry but it does seems to be a recurring one as Alderaan is not the only planet with this event it appears.

Thank you, Dulfy. Great info as always.

As to the event, I find myself underwhelmed with the content and rewards. I suppose it's something else to do in game but it just doesn't inspire within me the desire to go do it.

Oh well. There's plenty of other stuff to do, right?

Wow more than just Alderaan?? Can you give any other details on that? Do you mean the plague will spread later and we will be able to continue working the event elsewhere? Or you mean it will end on Alderaan then pickup later on another planet? I'm guessing that means it will have the same or similar cadence as Gree but at some point they will run out of planets :p

I have not had a chance to get online but what do you mean?

Are there hints towards other planets?

Or is it actually live on other planets now. I didn't see anything on your guide about anything other than alderaan?

Ooooh. Thanks! Maybe the rakghoul event will be what I was hoping gree would be. Each time it comes back its still technically the same event, but in a different location.

Sorry another question: can you clarify on the H4? is that Eyeless or something else? I was under the impression that Eyeless is an operation boss. and I know it's early but are there any pointers/guides available yet for Eyeless? My 4 pub side toons are geared and ready for hardmode assuming it is an operation boss.

lol I feel a cough and tummy ache coming on; I might need to head home from work early ;)

Judging by the achievements I would guess it'll be something like the Xeno fight from the Gree event.
