I completely understand. But if you ever want some help with spamming some flash points, just let me know in a PM and we can arrange a time.

He said it wasn’t even on the Devs bug board or a known issue. That was after at least a 100 posts by people over 5 weeks. At which point it was 100% obvious Musco wasn’t doing his job.
The very next day Musco made a thread in the bug section to ask us about the wrong gear dropping based on our toggle. And the only reason I think he made the thread is because Owen is part of Kieths raid group and told him that Musco had been ignoring us.
And to this day, Musco never went back to that thread to reply to any feed back he asked for. And it took 5 months till they addressed the wrong gear dropping (which still isn’t fixed properly). And not once have that admitted the lower gear lvl dropping in pvp is broken or bothered fixing it.

As much as I hate playing flash points because I only want to pvp, they really are the fastest and best way to gear up.
When 6.0 was released I pushed back against doing them because I only wanted to pvp. But I changed my approach when the drops were many Lvls below my gear rating.

The best way to do the Amps is to just keep ones with good amps as they drop, even if they aren’t for that class or spec.
Then when you get an item with the right amp you can swap it out.

The more flash point runs you can make, the more Armoring gear you can choose from. You don’t even need to do it for that class. I run my assassin through Red reaper flash points to grind gear for my other Alts because it’s fast. I can solo vet mode in 8 mins and 10-11min on MM (if I don’t die). With the help of my wife we can do veteran in 7 mins and MM in 8-9 mins.
Just one boss fight drops more gear than a pvp match. So if you wanted to, you could just kill the first Boss in 2-3 mins over and over. But the last boss gives the Armor or tactical drops and you get the flash point mission rewards too, so it’s best to just run the whole thing.
Took me 4-6 weeks of doing HS over and over before I just couldn’t do it any longer. I stopped FPs and just been logging in to PVP since I got 2 toons totally geared now.

I don’t get many tech frags etc., because I don’t do all the different PVE activities that will give tech frags as rewards. I said it many times but for me SWTOR PVE puts me to sleep.

The Rewards are all cookie cutter, and I just never found the PVE enjoyable. Anyway my point is I still play my way, I get far less rewards I need to gear up playing my way, but that’s fine. I log in on two toons, PVP for a period then log out.

You know what... shield/absorb augs don't bolster... at all.

I was playing around with adding back some shield/absorb beyond what you just get from having a shield. I put in some 228 shield, and 228 absorb augs. My stats outside a WZ, standing in the Cartel Bazar...

Absorb=288 (3 augs @ 96 each) for 23.51%
Shield=192 (2 augs @ 96 each) for 25.98%

My stats inside a voidstar... exactly the same. Thanks bioware!

Ah man, that’s F**k*d.
I had no idea those didn’t bolster
*** disclaimer in case people don’t know from reading other threads, all empty augments slots are bolstered as a default 228 Mastery augment.

Edit: Banderal, if you need any Advanced Critical Augment 74 (rating 286), PM me and I’ll craft them for you. Just need to provide the mats.

Weird. I wonder if it’s just those augs or all augs?

When I started to amp up all of my toons on SS, oh...about a month and a half go, I decided I was going to gear up via pvp and the onderon weekly quests (I was not going to subject myself to another HS grind). Ironically, this morning, I was able to get my first 306 ilvl toon on SS. I just flipped renown lvl 120.

During the double xp event....you can jump 3-5 renown levels for about a half of an hrs amount of work doing the onderon weekly. I do did this once a week....3-5 renown crates, the daily and weekly packs. Rest of the week was pvp.

Thanks, but actually I think I'm good on crit. I got it in the vicinity of where the vulkk guide recommends using just crit enhancements. I was going to play around with using augs to bump up my shield/absorb to see if it felt like that helped survivability, even though I know that "all the experts" say to just drop shield completely.

I mean, I'm still pretty survivable against the average regs team. We won a Yavinn game last night because... well, we were losing, and so I decided to just take a stab at running over to "their" node, because it felt like they were maybe a deathmatch team and might have left it empty. They didn't leave it empty, and then FOUR MORE of them came to defend it... 5 defenders against just little-ol-me. I never realized I rated that much fear!* My team wasn't even sitting at "ours" collecting medals or anything, but they almost completely abandoned mid anyway. And I survived long enough for us to take mid - so that felt pretty good. Then we were able to hold both for the rest of the match, even though they were the superior "numbers" team. Hurray us!

* = Actually, I think when they saw me they were expecting a major shift to that node by the whole team, since we'd done that a few times before, so they were trying to anticipate, and just got it wrong.

Yeah, the double xp event is definitely making renown levels come fast and furious. Even from just reg'ing it in PvP (I didn't keep track though). I get a new renown box every 2 or 3 games I think. But it also feels like I got most of my gear through the "win" boxes in PvP. Although I got my few random set pieces and tacticals through the renown boxes and the weekly pvp box. But that might account for your higher renown level to get someone to 306, if you were boosting renown with the onderon missions - but then renown boxes were not helping much? Or I was just way more lucky.

Without reading the whole thread again, I’m assuming you’re playing a tank Jugg/guardian?

I know when I’m in objective maps on my rage Jugg that I can in-still fear like that by running to the off node, especially in matches where they are running in groups because half of them couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
That’s one thing I love about juggs, in objective pvp (under this low skill meta), they can survive long enough and be a big enough threat in the right hands to give your team a chance at another node while you draw them to you and survive long enough to push them out of position.
Obviously that would never have worked in the old days when people knew how objective pvp should be played and how to count to 16 (players) and use situational awareness and a mini map. But we play in a different environment these days.

With Augs, I’ve just finished reverse engineering 286 alacrity ones and I’ll do accuracy next, then I could look at defence or shield if you still need them.

Thanks for the offer! I noticed my sub runs out again today. I have "0 days left". I logged in yesterday.. got an OPG, quit. Queued a few minute later, got another OPG, killed the game and went and played something else. I logged in this morning, got a Yavinn. No one went "off node", I started to, and then decided "f' it, I can get sap capped so easy it's just not worth it to try to go solo guard", quit and killed the game.

Another gearing thing I just noticed... did bioware remove the ability to see and swap out augments? When I open the customize panel for a piece of customizable gear I can see the armor, mod, enhancement, tuning... but the augment, even though it has one installed, doesn't show up anywhere. So, say I want to swap out that 6.5 million-I-just-spent-on-it augment... how do I get the old one back into inventory? Or do I just eat that cost, because "pft, 6 million... that's pocket change!"? (Right, I can't even install all the KITS I have right now, because I ran out of credits.)

Not really seeing much incentive to immediately plop down the credit card to keep the sub up, honestly. Been playing DDO instead. Sure, it's old, and the graphics are dated, and it has some lag problems, and no PvP to speak of. But hey, they opened up all their quests for free during this covid thing. What did bioware do?
