If you don't intend to back up your claims with sources or proof, then don't start making claims in the first place.
I mean I understand your logic, but still. I am an adult, I speak my mind here just like I would speak it to someone in RL. I am not a 14 year old who comes to the internet claiming whatever. I have been on these forums for some time, took part in many discussions, I was close to Devs, Eric, Keith etc, many people even hated me for that cause I got out of a lot of trouble (just google GSF and my name you will get quite good articles).

This topic is Covid-19 and I think there is a very low chance that some troll or kid will come here and claim silly stuff. If so it would be quite evident and I would ignore it. I take stuff seriously, the game is one thing, that is just pixels, but this is a serious topic where I talk only honest and serious stuff.

Well, ofc, I do not blame, you. As I said in my previous article, I have no reason for coming up with stories here. I am an adult man, with wife and kids, I am beyond silly behaviour. BUT its the internet and like you said, people can claim anything here. The only way for me to prove it would be to uncover myself fully, which I would never to do a random guy on swtor forums. There are many people in the game that know me personally, I have lived all over europe and visited many of the players especially in the neighbor countries, but again, if you do not know any of them, all this is pointless. So in the end, you are entitled to believe what you want, but from my side I can tell you, I have no reason to make stuff up.

I have never heard one "expert" say this, that the best plan is to infect everyone at once.

They already determined this is exactly what they do not want, because when you get a flood of thousands, millions of sick people into the medical facilities they lack the equipment and manpower to treat everyone and this is where the complications become even more complicated and people die.

The point of the lock down is exactly that, to STOP the infection from spreading, to contain it and not allow it to move to others not infected. Never has the idea been to infect as many others as possible.

Maybe I misunderstand what you mean?

This is going to be deliciously easy. Almost as delicious as my Alderaanian Nectar Mimosa!

<<sips Alderaanian Nectar Mimosa>> Yum!

In this thread...

Merov starts with a psycho-meta-discussion about what is truth, data, believable in terms of government, media, social media, etc. A bit tinfoil-hattish in my opinion, but okay.

Merov then proceeds to, in point of fact, rely on data not just from his so-called "area" but from his government. He now claims his government was correct and did the right thing by "locking down" the country very early on. Why he suddenly believes his government and its respective data is unclear.

Merov then proceeds to be all over the map on what to do next. I take at face value that his country (somewhere in Eastern Europe by his own admission) took steps to lock down early. He then notes, however, that other countries like Austria and parts of Italy (he mistakenly cited an article relying on the headline) are softening lockdown restrictions. Of course, you're only as strong as the weakest link in the chain and w/o adequate testing you can easily see a second wave like you're seeing in some parts of the world. A lockdown doesn't really work if borders are porous.

But no fear! Merov then proceeds to say that it is "simple" to avoid the virus if you follow basic precautions, none of which he identifies. I tried my Wiley E. Coyote Acme Superspectronic Virus detection goggles, but alas to no avail...

But here's the real kicker...Merov is now proceeding with the 'herd immunity' strategy where you cluster everyone together and see who lives and who dies. In his own words...

<<Sidenote: I just combined three genres in one sentence!!!! Sips Alderaanian Nectar Mimosa.>>

Setting aside the absolute moral perversity of the argument, Merov is flat out wrong. And, yes, I have receipts. Here is an excerpt with direct quotes...

“People have misinterpreted the phrase herd immunity as meaning that we’re going to have an epidemic to get people infected,” says Graham Medley at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Medley chairs a group of scientists who model the spread of infectious diseases and advise the government on pandemic responses. He says that the actual goal is the same as that of other countries: flatten the curve by staggering the onset of infections. As a consequence, the nation may achieve herd immunity; it’s a side effect, not an aim. Indeed, yesterday, U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock stated, “Herd immunity is not our goal or policy.”

Why? Simple...

“Who do you think works at those nursing homes? Highly trained gibbons?” asks Bill Hanage, a British infectious-disease epidemiologist based at Harvard University. “It’s the people who are in that exact age group you are expecting to be infectious.”

Merov, your positions are both internally and externally contradictory. You can brag about your parents, your relationship with the upper echelons of Bioware all you want...but, seriously, stick the landing. Right now, every time you land, it's like you're being vomited out of a Sarlacc Pit (the great Nasty Dasty the Hutt has repeatedly thrown you in) and landing in a pile of goo on my pleasure barge. It's messy, it smells, and makes for a slippery dance floor that has caused serious injury to two of my favorite Gamorrean guards.

A person can watch any national TV news media for 10 minutes, and figure out the strategy they have laid out is to contain the virus and not spread it. I have no idea where he is getting his facts from.

Well since you catch me by the word so will I. You can read all about it and you will find out that "herd immunity" is a great solution. HOWEVER for "herd immunity" to work you need a vaccine smarty pants.

This is the key thing, you need to isolate the weak and also those who take care of them. Did you see how the chinese hospitals looked like? The nurses did not even approach the infected patients, they avoid all contact. It is silly but thats why China handled the virus so well. Thats something we sadly cannot manage in EU or rest of the world, we lack the discipline. Instead we rely on a simple lockdown.

Here is where the internet comes in. A guy, pretending to be a Hutt, drinking some nonexistent liquid is talking to me about real world stuff. Oh well, i guess we can what we want here, since its the internet

Dear Merov,

Please stop making it so easy. You say you don't trust governments (except your own). That contradicts your earlier posts but let us allow that one to slide before you dig your own hole any deeper.

Now, however, you are choosing to expand it by one. And of all the governments on Planet Earth you thought released reliable data...

YOU CHOSE CHINA (which as of yesterday had reported only 3,342 deaths).

<<sips, no gulps medicinal Martini>>

Dasty

P.S. Per your previous post, my understanding of the flaws in your argumentation was coterminous upon the completion of each post and required nary a thought. Heck, even Skadge figured it out in less than a minute, though he had to have Torian read him the words.

P.P.S. Dont hate me b/c I'm smarter than you. Hate me b/c I'm smarter, have fabulous pleasure barges on all the core worlds, and am far, far <<begins singing>> more pretty and witty than you.

Ok i see that this is not leading anywhere. The only thing that resolves these internet debates is revealing who we really are in rl, but that will never happen from neither side, so lets just post what ever we want and not bother about what others are writing cause no one can really prove anything here

All hail the hutt...
There was one person in government who did say about herd ammunity (wrongly of course), claiming it would make his country stronger, and if you believe him, i've a lovely piece of swamp...erm I mean beach front property on hutta for sale BTW, it was Boris Johnston, not the smartest man in the room, even when alone. And we all know what happened to him
