I'm not going to die of hunger nor will my family because children in 3rd world countries are dying of hunger. If the guy next to me at the store drops from a heart attack, I'll be fine. Same with HIV. The common flu has vaccines and many scientist have said the conronavirus is more contagious. I'm not gonna provide sources, however you can go to Youtube and type: "understanding covid 19." There's great videos out there about it.

Regardless of your political stance, blame Shiff, Trump, or the WHO, if we had locked down travel in January when we started hearing about this, we probably wouldn't have had to close down businesses. Hate Obama all you want, I'm just using this as an example, but during Ebola the government closed off Africa travel and most of us didn't notice anything different.

Sure the media is going to blow up negative stuff. Public fear makes them money, but we have to take this virus serious right now.

Its nice that you will be fine, but many others will not be. As you said, we need to take this virus seriuosly, but what about the other stuff I wrote? So when covid-19 is gone its all fine again? Thats quite a sad way of seeing things. As I wrote there are many other things out there but people just dont care cause the media doesnt cover them enough.

If you want sources then here the estimate is that the flu kills up to 650k people per year. But lets take a lower number like 500k per year, that divided by 12 months is 41k per month. Since we have april its 41k * 4 = 164k. So thats still more than Covid-19 killed till now. Yes, you will argue that its more contagiuous but all this data is very missleading. People who die mostly have other diseases and other complications. Here we could go into speculations and conspiracy theories, but it seems people here do not like that so I wont go there.

Countries are already softening the meassures, our company said everyone comes to work now cause no one in the area is sick and there is just no reason to be at home so.... we will see. What's sad is the fact that after this circus is over noone will care about how many die of the flue or hunger anymore. They were only concerned with covid-19.....

BS. Countries are prolonging their lockdowns as we speak. I don't know what reality you live in, but it's not one that aligns with what really is happening out there. France, Australia, Germany and Italy for example are prolonging their lockdowns. All the others are likely going to follow suit because here in the Netherlands our Prime-Minister is already hinting that all the measures will continue beyond May with any softening on the measures far out of the way. Our PM said this on live television. Seriously, you're pushing out false information and misleading people.

Hmm ok, then I guess BBC is also lying. And so is the Washington post. But i guess there are as unreliable as the guardian. Countries are easing the meassures cause its just too much for the economy and stuff can work even with the virus out. If people follow the simple instructions they can avoid the virus.

Do I really need to always post sources when posting here? Am I writing some paper on the University? Citing from sources? You can easily google the stuff i write here.

Exactly! Here's the "simple" tactic I employ so I don't get an invisible virus that lasts on people who may be asymptomatic for days!

I have seen with my own eyes how information on a nation's TV is false, and I know this because either me or my wife is from that other country and been there just recently and know what really is going on there.

Anyway. Just wanted to say that "reputed" media outlets sometimes do pump out misinformation now whether or not that's purposeful or not is another debate.

As for some attitudes on the forums regarding the virus, I think it's a matter of how some people need to personally experience something before they believe it. They don't learn from history, they don't learn from others. They only can learn by seeing, feeling, hurting themselves.

Until that happens, these non-empathetic people will gravitate towards others like themselves and spout a lot of arrogance and assurance that it's not a big deal, that is until it hits home. So, that's that.

I'd stop expecting these people to grow consciences and instead just hope they find enlightenment about things before they speak on them.

Lockdowns are being extended across multiple nations. Sure, some of the countries that got hit the earliest are starting to open up very carefully, like Austria. But that is because Austria was the earliest to issue a lockdown. Apparently, lockdown is the most effective strategy to combat the virus and pandemic. If more countries had followed Austria's example, we might have seen some improvement across other countries as well. But for now, lockdowns have to be extended because people like you said "it's all not that bad, it's all being blown up". Thanks for that.

My country was among the first to close down, way before Austria. Among the first was probably Ukraine, but people mostly do not see what countries in Eastern EU do. This week we went back to fully working, many shops have opened and the factories are about to start producing too. We were locked down for over 5 weeks.

Best way to combat the virus is to expose everyone to it. This was the UK plan, but in such a case you need to lockdown just the sensitive population (people with sicknesses, weak immunity and old people). However, countries preffered the lockdown of the entire population.

My father is Head of the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Clinic, which means if people are put on the breathing machines its gonna be in his clinic, they need to have the best overview on the cases all over the country.

Nope, especially not in this day and age. These days anyone can claim anything on the internet and the amount of false information out there is staggering. If you make a claim, you need to be able to back it up when someone asks for sources, even if it is on the SWTOR forums. If you don't intend to back up your claims with sources or proof, then don't start making claims in the first place.

Ah yes, this. Forgive me if I don't take your word for it, I have seen too many people claim they are this or that, that their parents of friends are high placed here or high placed there, on the internet. It's the easiest way out of providing proof for an argument, to simply lean on an authoritative figure that the other person has no way of verifying whether they actually exist or are what the poster says they are.
