At almost every turn you are factually wrong in what you post.
That is dangerous.

All The Best
And he will remain factually wrong, because it suits his purposes.

He has chosen to maintain a platform of misinformation, and nothing we say or do will change that. His statements undercut the severity of Covid by undermining and dismissing all facts counter to that platform.
We've supplied straight-up truth to counter those false statements, yet he continues.

Unfortunately, there are far, far too many people like him doing exactly the same thing because it suits their narrative. Truth just gets in the way of that. We're wasting our time here.

In English, a leading X on a word is pronounced like a Z. (zorDEVoro).

Not that I disagree with you, but you really do need to find a less pretentious way of saying that.

As is so often the case with serious issues, people get polarized in their positions. COVID is very serious and should be taken seriously as a result. It is not the apocalypse however, as so many media outlets would have us believe.

Take sensible precautions as recommended by appropriate government health officials (the virus has not spread evenly so these will be different depending on where you are), and get on with your life as best as you are able within those restrictions.

I'm gonna side with Xor on this one. I (personally) didn't see anything pretentious in his posts, just pointing out factual errors, like Spudsie (and others) did. Perhaps you can call into question Xor's conclusions about a certain poster's motivation, but that is subjective. You think it's pretentious, I didn't see any other conclusion than Xor's. /shrug

And, frankly, I think a little bit of pretension, even condescension, is warranted when someone thinks they are qualified to impart their wisdom on infectious respiratory diseases based on the keen insight they gleaned as a child role playing Doogie Howser, MD.

Hugs from a distance,

Dasty

You just hope too much from a society that is unable to think for itself.. and is totally controlled by the mainstream media...

I like your optimism though.

As I said, my issue with the post isn't the content, it's the phrasing

Repeatedly saying someone else is wrong in personal, aggressive terms and manner doesn't help, it just comes across as arrogant, even if entirely correct.

People are getting far too passionate about this. The pandemic is going to be continuing for several months at least, that's an awful long time to be carrying around all that stress and angst about misinformation. The only counter to misinformation is calm responses, containing information from cited sources (no, I don't consider hospital daycare a good source either). Then, as people encounter the misinformation, they also encounter these calm, well cited responses. Any sane individual is going to find the latter more compelling.

And if they aren't sane... well, you can't argue with all the fools in the world (yah, I try it from time to time to, doesn't really go anywhere)

How's everyone doing?

Personally, I'm doing alright; I'm remaining at home minus necessary trips to get supplies, playing a little SWTOR when I feel like it, and extending some music to pass the time.

Best wishes to everyone and hope you'll stay safe.

If we're fortunate yes, it'll hopefully only be 3 months. If not, the COVID-19 could last throughout the summer, or may reappear come fall season. Not to feed panic or anything, but it's a possibility that I've kept in mind.

The misinformation in this thread is dangerous. I'm not going to quote anyone specifically, but I am going to address some things said. Using spoiler tags as this is a long read.

No. Covid-19 is not the flu. No. Covid-19 has nothing to do with the 1918 Spanish flu.
Spoiler

So, why did I write all of that? Because misinformation kills. This is not the time to coddle the ill informed. One does not need to be at high risk to develop serious viral pneumonia from SARS-CoV-2. Relatively healthy people can very quickly decompensate and find themselves in serious respiratory failure. During the 1918 pandemic one of the highest death rates were among people aged 15-34. Do not for a moment think that youth and health will protect you.

When it come to Covid-19 I really don't care about protecting someone's feels by trying to police my verbiage. Maybe if people got a little more passionate about infection control we wouldn't have millions sick and thousands dead from the flu.

Trixxie, I am very sorry to hear about your diagnosis and completely understand your concerns for your mother. While your mother has likely already been exposed (asymptomatic shedding is a factor for communal spread but shedding is highest during the initial stages of the illness) isolating yourself can help to mitigate the spread.

One last thing. Stop buying toilet paper people. It's not as versatile as you think. Save a tree. Get a bidet.
