It doesnt have to be that way necessarily. This issue is not economic nature, its an pandemic, not like any other crisis that has been here before (maybe there was i dunno). As soon as the virus is gone things will get back to normal. The only important thing is cooperation. If the countries delay paying taxes, freeze loan payments etc it will all go well and no one will have any issues.

The only problem is that if some companies or people start to panic.

I'm in somewhat of an unusual position where my workload has actually massively increased because of the virus. We got sent to work from home earlier this week, but then my company decided they wanted to try and do something about the virus.

So now our #1 priority is a project (which I have been heavily involved with) to use a mobile device's microphone (and possibly other sensors) combined with machine learning to try and detect the early stages of pneumonia (a key indicator of COVID).

It's been an interesting (and a bit hectic) couple days.

Best advice, don’t get it. Personal experience is it sucks. Going into day six and just been diagnosed (finally). But told to stay at home till my symptoms get worse (yay )
They won’t even take into account my mother is living with us and has health problems that make her in the highest risk bracket (im scare it will kill her)
If it was any other country that was over whelmed, I would understand, but it’s Australia (which isn’t over whelmed) and there are people with less symptoms than mine and they are in hospital. I even have top private hospital insurance!
That’s what happens when you aren’t in a major city like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or your name isn’t Tom Hanks.
Anyway, just pissed at the system and being sick. Six days of bedroom isolation is making me cranky.
Stay safe everyone and look after each other.

This is an out right lie. So uneducated about this, it’s astounding. Stop listening to conspiracy theorists and listen to the experts.
Do you actually think the world and governments would be doing what they are doing if it was just flu?
Surely you can’t be that naive?
As someone who has it, I can tell you it’s not normal flu. The last time I was this sick was when I had meningitis 30 years ago. And that time I had to be put into coma for 7 days.
So please stop spreading false information. It’s not helpful to anyone.

It makes me wonder if it was just a really bad and socially irresponsible troll attempt.

Geez trixxie I'm sorry to hear all that, and I hope your mother stays well! I worry about my father too, as he has cancer and I cannot avoid going to work. The about of misinformation out there is huge, and from far better sources than the swtor forum. I sincerly hope nobody is dumb enough to take their medical advice from a star wars game forum.

Here is hoping you get well and everyone else in the family stays healthy.

Even in the off-topic forum, my thought here is well off-topic, but...

Could those "possibly other" sensors include things like e.g. the heart sensors on an Apple Watch Series 4/5? (I don't know enough about Covid or what those sensors can do to suggest more than "this might be worth a look", sorry.)

Hope you start improving soon and more importantly your mother avoids getting it.

I have a lot of contact with my elderly father who requires a lot of home care too, so I am avoiding public and really hoping not to get it myself because I don't want my dad to get it.

Problem is people are dumb. I had a family member yesterday get upset because I didn't want to hug and kiss them. It's not time to take things personal, people seem to not get it.

That's the biggest problem I have found, is people's attitudes about the virus. Really selfish on behalf of most people and they don't seem to understand masks really help you from spreading it to others, not the other way around, idiots.

People think wearing a mask is going to protect them, it's not. The virus sits on surfaces for hours, it hangs in liquid droplets in the air for 3 hours, it's just so easy to pass this virus on top of it having a really impressive contagious factor to it.

Most people don’t even know how to use the masks properly or even which are the right masks. If you don’t have P2/95 masks, it won’t protect you from anything. The other masks are for people who are sick so they don’t spread it.

Last study I read is the virus can last 3+ days on plastic and metal (not copper) and around 3 hours on other surfaces like cardboard and copper, not sure about wood or fabric.

Droplets can spread up to 3 meters from sneezing and coughing. But they aren’t airborne as such because those droplets are too heavy. The exception is in ICU wards where they’ve discovered people on respirators are causing it to be airborne in some situations. It makes me angry when I see medical staff trying to fight this without enough protection because governments don’t have the supplies or are unorganised.

My house is like a bio containment facility at the moment. We’ve a sterile “airlock” to go in and out of the house. My wife uses a bleached mop outside of the bedroom door after I open it and bleach on the door nob. Everything I use is sterilised after and she wears gloves when handing it.

It’s lucky I set up all the stuff (supplies) we needed and procedures back in February. I just didn’t think I would be the one to get sick. In actual fact I didn’t think any of us would because we’d been practicing social distancing since mid January. I have literally only left the house about 10 times since the beginning of February. The only place I think I could have got it from was one visit to the super market last week. And we didn’t go near anyone and wiped down the trolley and everything.

So it goes to show you can get it anywhere at any time, even if you are being super careful.

Be safe everyone.
