Game Crashing my Display Drivers

For the past couple of days I have had to face a most infuriating issue with the game crashing my display drivers every so often. Before anyone says anything, this is not a problem with my Display drivers, which are dual-Radeon 4850's running on Catalysis. I know it is not a problem with my Display drivers because I have reinstalled the latest update several times in the last two days trying to fix the problem.

The issue began happening two days ago, 12/29/12, and has persisted off and on since then, to varying extreams. Both on the 29th, and today it has only happened every 5-10 minuets or so. However, yesterday the game was un-playable because it literally would not go a second without crashing my drivers.

Also interesting to note is that sometimes I can get the game to run completely free of these issues. After this the game will continue to run smoothly until I restart my computer. This usually happens after an infuriating two hours of restarting the game, testing my display drivers, and generallly sorting through my display drivers to try and figure out the problem. That is why I am certain now that the problem is not with my machine, but with the game.

I don't know if its a problem with Radeon support, as I seem to have stumbled across acouple other threads detailing problems with compatibility between the game and Radeon product. I would like to point out that before any of this started happening I have had no problems with running the game on the highest settings, and that this problem just aross acouple days ago.

I hope that someone will get back to me in a timely manner, and that the problem is fixed soon.

Mostly Video drivers crash because of an unstable videochip/videomemory. You might want to check the temperatures. Otherwise make sure its not overclocked.

If it was a game problem I bet everyone would have it.

This or drivers. My GF was having an issue with video card crashes, I updated her video drivers for her and no more issues.

Yea, but like I said. I've done that several times in the past couple days, and I have the most recent update running it. Also this game should not be taxing my Graphics really at all. I have run almost a dozen more demanding games than this, and have never once experienced a simular problem unless my display drivers were out of date.

Oops sorry, missed that. If it's not the drivers then it's a physical problem with your card/cards.

I have this problem and so do a 1000 other ppl. Look for threads about "black screen" freezing. You are just lucky if it doesn't cause your entire system to fail every time this happens.

OP, go check the stickies here on Customer Support. They have added info collecting threads that you should post stuff in for them to be able to track down issues.

@people always thinking this issue is at end user;
It doesn't really matter wich line of code is 'causing the trouble. For alot of people (and I don't mean relative to the whole player base. More than 1 is actually enough no?) it is only with SWTOR they are having issues (blue screens, fps, crashes etc). It may well be this is not BW's fault, could be whatever. It really doesn't matter since it starts with SWTOR. Thus this place is where we should come for support...for a start.
Peace
