What the hell happened in the last week and a bit?

Has the “pvp” patch been so poorly received that people stopped playing (like me). If so, I fully blame this crap matchmaking system and the amount of introduced bugs and extra dysnc the patch caused.

Seems the only thing the patch did was for strong hold orientated people. Biowsre spent so much of the pts testing adding stuff for it, decorating it and adding rooms and other superfluous things, they forgot it was supposed to be pvp patch and not a strong hold only patch. I don’t know any pvpers using it for Pvp.

They should have spent the time getting rid of the bugs in pvp that many of us reported and fixing the dysnc and making sure matchmaking was working (which we told them it wasn’t on the pts)

Add the atrocious launch of it and the lag bugs. Which meant all those people who thought about coming back, just laughed and said no thanks.

It’s no wonder this patch failed. The only thing it got right for most pvpers was cross faction, which hardly needed a whole patch to implement.

Personally, I wish they’d not hyped it as a pvp patch and just said its a strong hold patch and we’re also going to throw in cross faction.
They should remove this stupid matchmaking system. It doesn’t work.
They shouldn’t have bothered with the antihack system cause idiots are just cheating in other ways instead and ithe system is still too convoluted to bother reporting them.
A lot of the ranked guys hate the new arena. It doesn’t bother me, but we didn’t need it.

I’m ready to quit over the matchmaking system and I know a lot of other pvpers already have.

I can see this thread will start to get more traction for mergers if this decline keeps happening. Either way it won’t affect me cause I won’t be here for it if this broken matchmaking isn’t fixed or isn’t removed. It’s actually worse than it was before.

A shame to see you leaving.

I myself am not much happy with the same pvp problems since 5.0 and not a word on fixint it (like fixing this ranged lul meta with godlike mercs and snipers, no incentive for playing midbies, joke ranked pvp, etc.........long list).

If weren't by a couple friends in satele shan, I would cancel my sub right now too. However, I'm considering not renewing it when my play time expire at day 10 of next month.

Bioware don’t care about long term players. They said as much in the latest Badfeeling pod cast. And that is why the game is failing.

Ugh. If they do another server merge it would probably mean hubby & I would quit the game for certain reasons.

You're just never happy. Why don't you just go find another game you will be happy with?

Matchmaking is working as well as it's going to with how people Q & roles. (Pay attention to how it's worded & you might realize it's not going to do exactly what you think it's going to do.)

Just because you don't think this patch was a success doesn't mean it wasn't. *smh*

There are always idiot loud mouths in pvp. Pvpers themselves get told to leave or uninstall. That’s just pvp, there are always arseholes.

I think you may have been listening to those few “soft” people who felt they were being specifically persecuted. If you pvp as much as me, you’d have seen that was rare, especially on Star Forge. I could probably count on one hand how many times I saw it and when I did, most of the team gave the loud mouths crap for saying anything.
Then I guess you didn't see it because I did. I even told the people that were telling the roleplayers to leave that they needed to shut up as the roleplayers had as much a right on the server as they did and had the right to play how they wanted. I remember one "idiot" in particular that stated that roleplayers do nothing but stand around, they don't run heroics, flashpoints, etc. I then asked the idiot if that was the case then how come I had 2 characters in 248 gear (this was right after the mergers) because last I checked you don't get command boxes for just standing around. So yes it was there because I heard it.

RPers still hear that stuff plenty. There's not as much haranguing in General chat anymore, but at least on Star Forge there are still a lot of people who go out of their way to make RPers feel unwelcome and ruin their fun. Any time I've tried to RP in public on either Fleet since the last mergers, there's always been a couple of jerks running around the area, throwing AoE attacks on top of players, spamming emotes in chat so all the RP scrolls on up the window too fast to read, throwing insults or vulgarities in /say or with custom emotes, telling RPers they don't belong on 'their' server, parking giant mounts on top of toons... anything they can do to be disruptive.

A lot of said griefers are PvPers (because you see the same names in PvP chat and because they routinely poof out for a few minutes for matches before returning for more harassment), but certainly not all of them. EA doesn't care; you can report them all you want but they never go away. So now fewer and fewer people are willing to RP in public.

Yep I’m not happy and neither are a lot of people. I don’t need you to tell me to leave. I’m already doing it.

People weren’t happy with conquest either and it’s been 5 months since then and the thread is still alive and people telling Bioware it needs fixing or adjusting.

You may think match making is working. But it’s not for everyone. I’m sure the system is using time played in pvp as a skill meter and then dividing it up.
Which means as someone with a lot of pvp hours, the matchmaking seems to think I’m the best person in the queue and makes me try to carry a whole team. I’m not that good. Time played doesn’t = skill, especially if you are playing a class you are crap on or haven’t played for a long time.
Some people are getting matchmaking and I’m happy for them. But there are people like me who aren’t. So what are we meant to do? Lose every match until everyone else has played as long as us?
It also doesn’t balance roles, only healers and tanks. It doesn’t take into account if your are stealth, ranged or melee dps. You can have a whole team of stealths against you and it’s imposssible to win most objective pvp maps even if skill is balanced,
Gear is also supposed to be a metric according to Musco, which I can categorically prove isn’t being considered when balancing or everything else overrules the gear metric.

Just because something is crap or not working as it should, doesn’t mean it’s as good as it’s going to get. If you don’t keep ontop of Bioware and pressure them to fix or adjust things. They will never do it.
Imagine if they broke the story or some part of the game you were into and it made it completely unenjoyable for you and others to play. Would you stay silent and just accept it and say “that’s as good as it’s going to get”?
I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t because I’ve seen you complain about stuff too.
Would you stay quiet if Bioware said they were merging the servers or would you try to get them to stop or at least make it as painless as possible?

You obviously rate success different to me. You are entitled to your opinion. But mine is it was a failure and it doesn’t mean I’m wrong just because you disagree with me. At least I supported my reasoning of why it was a failure, you haven’t even backup why you think it was a success.

Edit : if I still cared enough, I would cance this sub for a few months. Open another account and test/prove my theory. But I shouldn’t have too. Bioware should just come clean with how it works so people having my experiences don’t have to guess,

Basically they are just jerks. No need to put a pvp tag on them because you see them in gen chat. That smears all pvpers.
There are just as many pve and rp jerks in pvp. It doesn’t matter what part of the game you play, there will always be some arse who will try and ruin it for you.

I don’t like that those people do stuff like that to rp people, but it wouldn’t change if they merged servers. The same jerks would still be there.

Before you reply or jump down my throat, I’m not saying they should merge, I’m just trying to point out that merging won’t change anything that is already happening.
Not all pvpers are jerks, it’s only a select few and they ruin our reputation. It’s no different SS.

If I was an avid RP player. I would be campaigning for Bioware to add RP instances and channels like they have for owpvp. It won’t completely stop it from happening, but they could also add a feature to allow you to report trolls “if” they were doing it in the RP instance.

It really sucks when people go out of their way to ruin other people’s fun. I wish people were better human beings.

Completely agree.. Cross server grouping would be better.

For many of us.. the servers are actually overcrowded as they are.
