B2P won't work. IP costs too much.

Keep the sub fees, Bioware. If you need more cash to hire some devs, feel free to boost the cost. The people who actually care about the game will pay whatever you want to charge.

All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force

Nope. If they bump it to 30/month I'll stick around. I suspect you would too.

I wouldn't. Much as I love the game, and as much as I think it's worth the current monthly subscription, I don't think it's worth 3 times the industry standard. I'd pay once in a while to binge through several content patches and make good use of my unrestricted credits while it lasted, but after that I'd leave the game again until I once more had several content patches/expansions to play through. I suspect a lot of people would do the same. And I really don't think people dropping that amount of cash once or twice a year is more profitable than having them consistently pay smaller amounts.
What you get from a referral link: a box of junk and one single server transfer token.

What the other person gets: 500 cartel coins, 100 more each month you stay subscribed, a speeder bike and a droid vanity pet.

Yeah, I wouldn't either.

But maybe you're sincere, I don't know you well enough. Just getting a vibe that while you're waving the quit-flag, you don't actually want to walk away because the game still matters to you. I get that, I'm walking that line myself and it sucks but things are what they are. Also seems a lot of your reactions come from a place of disappointment and frustration, still trying to fight for improvement with one foot out the door already.

We can debate for hours what the best course of action would be for Bioware, perhaps one or two of us are actually experienced enough to know what would and would not work but in the end, it doesn't matter. Bioware and EA will follow the money and for as long as their current model works, they're going to milk it. When it stops working, you may get your full F2P while the prices on the CM soar because they won't stop trying to grasp for every single penny. It's out of our hands in any case.
Is it mockery? Partially. Is it sincere? Again, partially. Is it disappointment and frustration? Definitely.

This camel's back has been broken, finally, by the ineptitude of the devs. I'm also tired of the trickery and deceit.

And for those two individuals who are trying to troll me, I will explain why I am still able to post. With the last patch, I logged in and realized that I could work out 3, maybe 4 characters for conquest. I thought if it's like this each week, it won't be too terribly bad and I could live with it. So I resbuscribed. Oh how they fooled me. After logging in last night, and realizing that all of those changes Musco said would be in future conquests, after 5.8a, weren't there, I just logged off and cancelled again. Since my money's been paid for the month, you get the pleasure, or displeasure, of seeing my posts. Feel free to put me on your ignore list if you don't want to see anything from me. You won't hurt my feelings one bit.

I don't know the specific numbers, because it's all under NDA ... but I DO know how these sorts of IP agreements are conducted in corporate America. I have been on the inside of deals of this nature over the years.. and they all follow the same basic forumula.. only the final numbers vary... because of negotiations.

They are never structured such that one party takes all the risk and the other takes all the reward. Nope.. sane companies do not go that route... instead they negotiate a shared risk/reward contract.

A total money upfront approach is out of the question.... so yeah.. there is very much an IP royalty agreement of some form where the IP owner reaps a percentage of the total revenue generated through use of their IP. And it is the revenue sharing for IP licensed that carries the lions share of total value over the life of the contract.

As for who struck the better deal in the risk/reward negotiations... nobody knows for sure on that.. and it's immaterial to this discussion in any event. Clearly, both parties in this case still like the deal as neither has tried to execute an early termination, because we would have heard about that somewhere in the press if they were.
When you find yourself surrounded by hostile Clowns... always go for the "Juggler" first.

If I come back, and that's a really big IF this time, it won't be until conquest is better balanced and alt friendly.
