That's at least two ways of reading it. You clearly read it as #2 making you just as guilty of "adding words to change the meaning", because that's what you're doing, too. You read and added the 'forever' for yourself, because that is what you made of it and hoped for but that is not what they actually stated, either.
But it seems you thought they meant option #2 as well, as nearly all of us did. Of the two readings, coupled with "exclusive" and "unique", etc. the more logical reading (at the time - not now) was #2. At least as a sub reward again...

Hell I didn't know he existed until I spotted a thread with people whining about him. I may never have him, along with a bunch of other 'exclusive rewards' or whatever of the past few years.. oh well? It's the life of an MMO. Patches happen, expansions happen, new items are introduced and if you care so deeply about exclusive things you'd keep yourself informed whether you're actively subbed or not. If you don't then well.. your loss.

Well I said how I would solve this thing in another thread, I would offer just 1 companion of choice for everyone, Shae and Nico could be in the option for those people which missed and want them , but there could be also 1 for those people which already have both. On that way everyone would get rewarded and we wouldn't have all this fuss on the forum like we have those days.

In the future BW could consider even making the pool about which companion could be added as sub reward next, I think how that would be a cool idea.

You choose to only look at things in a way that helps your argument. You don't want items in this game to have value based on exclusivity or rarity so you are devaluing those qualities in importance. You don't want literal sentences to mean literal sentences (such as : FINAL CHANCE TO GET NICO OKARR AS A COMPANION!" or "Don't miss your FINAL CHANCE to get this legendary gunslinger Companion." ) because it helps your argument to claim I'm "reading into" that.

Silly, naïve, gullible me. I assumed they were literal words. Obviously Bioware didn't renege to customers. We just misunderstood that we were expected to pretend those statements had more words so we wouldn't be reading into things.

Wrong , I wouldn't mind at all if we would have those items in the game. But they should be vanity items ( some cool looking armors, mounts or weapons ) and not the companions which are important part of the story in this game which is a story driven MMO or some parts of the game which belong to the group of the playable content.

For the other parts of your comment , sorry but we will have to agree how we disagree on that.

Obviously there would be less backlash if exclusives stayed vanity items. I acknowledge that. Unfortunately, Eric posted a survey asking subs what rewards they wanted and asked for feedback in the forums as well. They listened to the feedback and it wasn't all just vanity items people wanted.

I will also be disagreeing with you on the "importance" you place on these specific companions because of your own personal perception. Niko Okarr, for example isn't nearly as "lore-worthy" as you're projecting him and definitely less important to the character (your player character) than the SF companions you downplayed earlier. You can make an argument that at least Shae was a key player in a critical stage of the alliance before you recruit her. But Niko doesn't do anything except heal, tank, or DPS (when he isn't getting tanked). He's pretty generic.

Well in my previous comment I was talking in general about the companions and I haven't specified which. Personally I'm interested mostly for Shae, for Nico not so much.

You only had to be subbed during one month to obtain Nico. It was originally during July, but they extended it to August. The monthly sub rewards were independent of each other and the only one that required a continuous sub was to receive early access.
Like so many others, you didn't read the Terms and Conditions, one of which said: "To qualify for the Early Access Bonus, you must have qualified for each of the four rewards by being a subscriber on each of the 4 listed reward dates. Once you qualify you may enter and play Knights of the Fallen Empire on October 20, 2015, seven (7) days prior to live launch on October 27, 2015."

That was later interpreted to mean to get Nico, ya had to have been subbed for the full four months. Why do you think there was such an uproar?

Were you even playing the game at that time? Because it sure doesn't seem so.

Better luck next time.

The people crying about the definition of "exclusive" need to go look the word up. It is STILL an exclusive. The companions are STILL "exclusively" for subscribers only. I also love the sense of entitlement people have as though BW somehow owed them those comps. No, they didn't. Your contract, for lack of a better term, with BW for your $15 a month (or whatever you pay) is for your game time. That's it. That's all you get for your money. Anything else you get besides that is just icing on the cake. You are in no way shape or form owed free mounts, pets, companions, anything of the sort. And before anyone suggests, it, no I am not a BW apologist. I just look at the situation logically and understand what I'm paying for. And I don't care if BW decides to give someone else the same PIXELS I have.

I guess if you can't admit when you're proven wrong, you have to make up facts instead. Excellent strategy.

I don't mind if Shae is given again as an-available-from-lvl1 comp, this is to help the new players. Still , it would have been nice to give "something" to the ones who already have Shae/Nico, let's say.. a grand chance cube? A dye?
