Oh very true.
EA tells BW what to do, BW has to do it. Sucks.

I have no doubt that this is true...I'd love to see what this game could have been had Bioware not been bought by EA...I think we'd be playing a very different game if this was Bioware's flagship product vs another budget EA title.

Lol what because EA is the investor/publisher? BW makes the decisions and if they’re poor decisions everyone blames EA that’s the logic.

ME:A was BW decision similar to making SWTOR.
They had a choice with both and ME:A failed because BW isn’t what it once was.
Everyone blamed EA and they showed the gamers how to correct BW incompetence by making that branch a support only team.

A publisher or investor sticking their nose in for the wrong reasons is the result of KOTOR 2 and that was by Lucasarts.

Probably no game at all. Didn't BW solicit EA because they needed more money to finish this game?

I think EA makes the budget decisions.

BW will come up with a plan, let's say 5.0 and presents it to EA with metrics and all. Once EA is convinced they'll get a strict budget to do it. Then when it fails, EA gets upset and heads roll (bye bye Ben) and a plan is put into place to fix it.

BW then says, we can still make it work. And EA gives them time to fix it. BW then tries to fix it but as too many people left because of 5.0 there is the additional issue of salvaging the game once more and keeping it from falling apart. That then becomes the new plan...welcome server merges. EA approves it and insists on some improvements so the game won't have to be yanked.

With a little bit of luck, Lucasarts also required the game to have to be alive for x amount of years so it won't become a stain on the IP.

But yeah EA is in charge but they don't deal with the creative side of it I'm sure. Just the budgetting and high level steering.

I think we would too and it makes me cranky and sad. No idea why BW decided to sell themselves (out) to EA but I knew when it happened some of the magic would fade. I didn't want to be right...

Omg have you followed BW? Their magic died out long before the buy out.

This is where W0W has the advantage...W0W defines Blizzard. If W0W fails, Blizzard fails. SWTOR is a blip on the EA map...a tiny and disposable blip...

I seem to remember reading that around launch. Then again, it could've just been typical internet hearsay. I'll have to do some research.
