Arena ? in SWTOR ?
Lets see what Arena did to WoW and all classes....

Nerf Scissor Buff Rock !
Scissor says: Rock is OP NERF !!!
Rock says: L2P bro your just another baddie !

1 week later

Heya Gusy Rock was a little to strong so we needed a small adjustment to the class.

Rock says: ffs we are NOT OP
Scissor says: Clearly a L2P isseu here folks nothing to see here move along.

1 year later each class plays so diffrent no1 likes it anymore.

Check WoW and the Hunter class...
Check WoW and the Shaman class
Etc etc etc ....

Arena only made FotM classes OP for that time when it was nerfed evry1 got back on alts for the next round of FotM OPness.

No thanks keep that farce in WoW where it belongs.

yeah i haven't. i'm afraid i'm not a big fan of games that require you to spend 90% of your time grinding to be "good" .

it's really no wonder why people like you don't want arenas. after all, they force you to actually compete against people your own skill level!

There is BIS classes for each patch all the time, whether there is an Arena or not. In Warzones there will be classes which dominate and the composition will be centred around, in PvE encounters too etc... That said, the smaller the bracket the more BIS classes come into play.

every single spec in WoW was viable in one bracket or another when I played except for the pve ones like holy priest, protection warrior, etc. and even sometimes those were viable.

People who oppose arena and call WoW a carebear game are garbage at pvp. The whole "Class X is OP this season" and arena is imbalanced argument is laughable. Scrubs pushing for Challenger and fail. If you were any good you would be able to win, but instead you backpeddal your way through battlegrounds and hate on something because you'll never be good at it.

Sorry, while I do enjoy good organised PvP, this is just wrong.

For some people (Especially those from games like daoc, UO etc), instanced PvP is too straight forward and boring, there's no adrenaline because you can predict the entire match with certain setups. Goldfish bowl PvP doesn't appeal to everyone.

Check any leaderboards from any season of WoW, and you will see obvious treands in the comps. It happens in all games, certain setups are better than others, but WoW arena takes it to the point that sometimes it's all people will play to try save their rating and look good.

I don't care that much about Arena, would be nice if they added it for the people that do want it. Personally I'm waiting for some propper OpenWorld PvP.

Isnt WoW a grind , you need lvl 85 to do arenas, no?

I absolutely love player killing but it's gotta be persistent open-world pvp.

Please, Bioware, never put arenas in SWTOR.

Arenas destroyed class balance in WoW, especially for high end PVE raiding, because the developers based all class design decisions exclusively on Arena PVP.

"Yes, Class A has terrible Raid DPS, but we can't do anything about that because it would impact arenas."

"Class B lacks the necessary tools to perform on half the encounters in the new raid zone, but we can't change anything, because it would impact arenas."

Hello all,

You may not know this man, but his name is Rob Pardo, he is VP Game Designer at Blizzard and has worked on World of Warcraft.

This is what he thinks.

"As for the biggest mistake? There's a lot of them that I think, were ... they just "fell out" of things. One example: I wish the servers were more stable when we launched, of course - there's a lot of that sort of thing. We have a lot of excuses for that - we didn't expect nearly the response - but we can't say it wasn't a mistake. If I was going to pick on a game design thing that I look back on and think was a mistake? We really never designed WoW to be a competitive e-sports game; it was something that we decided to start tackling because there was such a desire and demand to evolve it in that direction, to introduce competitive arenas. I'm not sure that that was the right thing to do with the game. "

Hmm, so even Blizzard executives didn't like arena....

But hell arena is really good.
