IMO WOW's pvp was best pre BG's and arenas. People used to group together to raid zones just for the hell of it. The fight WAS the reward. Once they introduced the instanced pvp they killed world pvp because all people did was camp in the cities and queue up for instances all day.

That being said I agree with the OP. The only way to get the instance campers out in the open world is to reward them.

why dont you go pve without any rewards then, hypocrite much ?

******* argument

There is something a lot of people don't seem to understand. A lot of this seems to stem from people giving wrong information about "how things were" in WoW. Or rather, why they were the way they were. Let me give you guys the straight story here as a real old schooler.

Let's start with this. If TOR didn't have WFs and PvP gear didn't exist, people would have to PvE for the best gear. That's how WoW was in the beginning. Everyone did bleeding edge content just for the sake of not being out geared in world PvP. PvE was a means to an end on PvP servers. When BGs and the initial honor system iterations came out nothing changed on that front. The reputation rewards and honor gear were not as good as high end PvE gear. The reason for that was no PvP stat. Having all the health in the world doesn't mean anything without the mitigation to back it up. There was no reason to do BGs or grind the honor system. Just carry some dragon slayers in the 40mans each week and get your loot. The only BG I ever queued for was AB, because it was the only one that didn't feel like some mini-game being played with your character.

People on this forum love to give the flawed argument that you don't need equal PvP gear progression for world PvPers in this game. Those people could not possibly be more wrong. The existence of a PvP stat and related gear has already negated the old PvE to get PvP gear route that WoW vanilla PvPers had. World PvPers need to be able to progress their gear at the same pace as WF players by engaging in PvP on any planet that allows for it. Just like WF players need to be able to queue for whatever WF they want without any penalty to their progression time table as well. There is nothing logical with which you can argue against this.

Friend, I LOVE open world PvP - that's why I started this thread. But let's be clear on what Open World PvP gets you:

No XP (but warzones do)
No Credits (but warzones do)
No Valor increases (but warzones do)
No unlockable titles (but warzones do)
No stats to watch or brag with your friends about (but warzones do)
No commendations or route to end game high level pvp gear (but warzones do)

So WHY would I Open World PvP on a god dam PvP server when I can spam WZ's all day and no matter if I win or if I lose I will always come out on top vs even the best Open World PvP'ers?

The stupid Death Droids all over the place can really kill the mood, too. Why aren't they level appropriate?

There also needs to be more elevators linking the Republic/Empire areas on Nar Shaddaa.

I enjoy world pvp. The only problem I have with it at this point is the faction imbalance. A bigger push on world pvp would create tons of pressure on rebel players-- who are by far and away the minority right now. That kind of pressure tends to create an even bigger gap than whats there already-- and before long, world pvp would be dead completely because there would be no one left to world pvp against.

Its nice to think we live in a perfect sandbox, but we dont. In order for something like this to happen something would have to occur to drive players to reroll rebel first. When the numbers get in the ballpark of being equal you might see something happen.

My guild is already considering rerolling to republic on a different server. We're on prophecy of five and the server is so overrun with empire that it's nothing but huttball 90% of the time. In 4 days on Illum, i've only actually seen 6 republic players total. Who our side begged to swap objectives with to finish the quests.

As it is now, our pvp players are tired of the game and don't feel going past the free month has any point. We are all former dark age of camelot players who live on open world pvp. Tol borad lite with warhammer objective flipping is not anyone's idea of open world. We want competition but we're not going to bother to stay with the game for it's single player class storylines and huttball, because that's all I happen to see.

Ever hear of diminishing returns? Do yourself a favor and know something about problems that have already been solved in modern MMOs before bringing up things like this.
