One would think the rank 2 speeders would be much faster. Its a disappointment because its a clear sign that you'll never travel at speeds that would actually be fun gameplay even at the final rank upgrade.

Such slow speeds are not what I would expect to see in a Star Wars environment.

I think what you're failing to realize is the increased damage required to knock you off the higher level speeders.

When you get knocked off your level 25 mount, a person on a level 40 mount can go right through the same mobs, laughing as they continue on their way while being shot at.

This is the significant diference between the speeders, not the overall movement speed increase.

If you ever played Vanilla WoW for example, the epic mounts were something a lot of people had to work to get. But in SWTOR, 520k is honestly not that much money.
No, I think that below max level things should be purchasable at the level they are introduced.

Fair point at max level in having something to work towards, but travel times in zones are clearly based around max mount speed, if you can get X speed at 40, then you should, as a rule, have the funds through normally questing to buy it at 40. Anything else is bad design

Example:

My Jedi Shadow is 47 and has her 100% speeder and liscence. She also has the special mount that drops from the last boss in Maelstrom Prison, but it is a 90% mount. With such a small increase in speed, I do not feel bad about using that mount every now and then, especially when I'm with lower levelled friends and guildmates.
That's why I prefer to have mount speed be based entirely on skill level and be disconnected from the mount itself.

Sometimes you pay vast amounts for incremental increases. You are certainly not forced to get the faster mount.
I very much like this example. Mostly sums up what you're getting.

If you don't want to spend the credits, you could always PvP to get that particular speeder...though you still need the training, so it won't save you that much in the end.

i bought my lvl 25 speeder, but i think i'll skip the 40 one until the 50, dont see much point in spending 210k for a 10% increase.

Unfortunately my Jack Benny cheapness will just no suffer me spending that much for such a trivial upgrade
Maybe if I ever have a million I might spend 210k frivolously

I don't know that I'm going to spend my credits on that. Anyone else on this bandwagon?
If you are on a PVP server you will.

I don't know how people say this is a cheap upgrade. 800k at level 50? Really? Credits are so hard to come by, it isn't even funny.

And yes, the speed increase is negligible. And the fact taht it takes "a little more" damage to get knocked off, ummm, who cares.

I wasted my creds on the upgrade at 40 and am totally regretting it. Not to mention the fact that after I made my speeder, sitting on this thing that looks like it goes fast, it is a hunk of joke riding next to my friend who did not upgrade and goes the same speed as me, cause 105 faster, is not that much faster at all.

301k for the level 50 upgrade.. dont know about that one now

How do we go about finding information like this? Trial and error? If you had no commented on this post then there would have been a lot of guesswork and unconfirmed information floating around.
