They should get rid of all individual stats and just have default stats. No one should have any advantage over anyone else. Otherwise, it's not fair competition and breeds resentment against PvP by new comers. At least the regular queue should be like this.

Just use this in PvP WZs....Bolster or generic stat presets whatever......In the rest of the game gear progression is fun and part of a balance that really kinda needs to be in place.....

LOL this is the textbook definition of correlation does not imply causation fallacy. It also when the game was first launched which is more likely to explain why game's highest population and highest participation rates.

I can tell you as someone who PVP'd a lot during that time, that gearing blew massive chunks on a level most current players can't comprehend. Not only was gearing a fraking nightmare but the differences between the sets and ungeared was so huge it was the /reason/ for introducing bolster.

Yes and people saying "if you do this I and all my 600 friends will quit" is a classic example of a hard fact? People in games need some kind of frustration, something to "grind" - without it, give some ppl everything they want 100%, and they will be happy for between 5 min and a couple hours and then a large number of them will stop playing. At no point am I saying that RNG boxes are great for pvp, but the rng boxes in pvp absolutely did NOT drive pvpers away from this game (maybe some but I would bet that having nothing to grind for at all is driving more people away right now). After release the PVPers were still banging away long after the pve'ers had finished their stories and moved on. PVP gear is childishly quick and simple and easy to get in this game currently, there's very little to think about, little to min/max, and the balance isn't horrible, certainly not nearly as horrible as it was at release. But every month I see fewer people doing wzs where even on small servers at release with not many people playing there were always wzs popping in very fast qs (and in every bracket when we got brackets).

Absolutely not... Tell me more about hard facts...

Lol. Those 'hard facts' disappeared pretty quick eh?

The 'fact' is that PvPers don't quit after they get their gear - we largely consider that the *start*.

Lack of fresh content drives people away. REMOVAL of old content drives people away. Bugs and balance problems drive people away. 'There are no plans' posts from devs or community managers drive people away. Half-arsed ranked seasons drive people away.

There are many many reasons why people drift away from PvP in this game. But 'because they made PvP gear too easy to get' is the most ridiculous theory I've heard so far, and completely at odds with what PvPers are actually saying.

Lots of overreaction and theorydrama.

I'm sure the efforts being made by development are, at least, an attempt at making the game more accessible to everyone. I have to encourage that.

I think that NIM raiders will gear much faster than me because ranked either will not happen, or will not happen for long. But do I need max PVP gear to be competitive with PVErs? Most of the time, no.

So, just like if you had to wade through converting comms to ranked comms in 3.0 (remember, 84000 reg comms to get a full set of ranked, then more to min/max), players will do the same thing now.

It's true, I'm not looking forward to a snails pace at gearing. It's also true, I really do not like gear awards being random in any way. But I just do not have the facts of how its actually going to work, or how it will actually play out.

All this I WONT PLAY ultimatum nonsense is exactly why this forum gets ignored.

Just chill and lets see how it goes.

Edit: When 4.0 launched, I had enough comms to fully min max ranked gear for all 6 of my healers. I do think that's a bit excessive for day 1 new content.

This is exactly right. I find gear to be more of an annoyance then a factor keeping me in the game. I drift in and out, and have not been a "hardcore" player ever since the removal of 8v8 ranked.

I would be perfectly happy with flat stats in PvP. Make the rewards for PvP cosmetic.

As for 5.0 killing PvP...I am not so sure. With everything they announced, ranked giving you the quickest gear drops and best crafting material, ranked players will have more access to credits and alt gear then everyone else. If PvPers learned to craft they will be the Kings of 5.0

its not going to kill pvp, its going to make it guild pvp..so as they soke up the conquests the schematics..whats left of this games pop will in about 6 months be saying the same thing...I'm bored...and Ill lmao. Your bored because
you qqd got what you wanted drove away all new players and now no one plays. Some day game developers will learn to ignore the neck beards who whine, complain , threaten and bully all because they feel they are entitled. All you've done since this game is ***** and this game has turned into a generic pay to play that is nose diving into oblivion. Be honest you don't want grind, you don't want effort, your special little snow flakes who want insta 70's, pay for credits and hack away because in real life you are losers. I give this game a max of 1 yr now. It finally happened this is space vanilla wow and its gonna suck in 5.0. Bioware its kinda fun watching you blow away a 400 million dollar investment. Good job!

This forum has been largely ignored since not long after launch. People have tried constructively posting, begging, pleading, cajoling and crying. There is only one constant - tumbleweeds. We really only post in this forum for the entertainment value and to talk amongst ourselves.

Quite frankly I'm surprised a little cargo cult religion hasn't sprung up here.

Honestly the gear needs to stay in PvP per 5.0...what they need to do is level the playing field for WZs via a preset stat template for each class or a Bolster of some sort.

If you completely remove gear from PvP then you completely cut it off from the rest of the game......PvP needs to produce CXP for gearing and to advance players that do PvE along with PvP.

If you are able to load into a WZ with a Stat preset based on your discipline this would solve the gearing problem...just have a few templates for each class favoring Alacrity vs. Crit. vs power etc....Player chooses the template they want to load in with and you have a level playing field.....Everyone using one of three stat templates....

Something like this would remedy the PvP gear deficit issue while still allowing PvP/PvE mix players to advance their gear for PvE and World PvP.

Basically everything stays the same but your gear is over written by a generic template for WZ's......

No idea who to credit this idea to...Its not mine just don't recall the first time I read about it.
