I'm sure you're trying to make some sort of statement or trying to be helpful in some way (or not). You may actually want to actually try reading the thread before commenting though....

The alternative is to again pay to get the unlock directly off the Cartel Market. That is the only way to get him as a non-subscriber. Pay.

Do you know what a subscriber perk is? It is something you get simply for subscribing, that you don't have to pay extra to get, that you get for FREE simply for subscribing. Things like unlimited WZ's, FP's and OP's are subscriber perks. Subscribe and you do not need to purchase unlocks for them. Extra XP is a subscriber perk, something you do not need to pay extra to get.

Now, allow me to quote you:

There you call both HK-51 and Treek subscriber perks. That would mean that you get them both simply for subscribing, without having to pay anything else.

However, neither of them are subscriber perks, as HK-51 requires you to complete a lengthy quest chain and Treek must be purchased, either with CC's or credits.

My point exactly.

No it wasn't, you simply needed to subscribe at some point to get it. All subscriber rewards in the history of the game have required you to be subbed on a certain day or dates to get them. Chapter one never had that requirement.

Anyone NOT subscribed from January 11- August 1, 2016 does NOT qualify to have access to the BONUS chapter and does NOT receive it and will simply have to learn to live without said access.
And what's the downside for Bioware changing the ToS and offering them on the cartel market, except that a few people would throw a tantrum and stomp off for a month until the next promotion comes along? Bioware makes more money and more people get quality content.

The down side is that BW stands to potentially lose a lot of FUTURE revenue if they set the precedent that subscriber rewards will be made available down the road, and for far less--a pittance, in fact. After all, why should anyone subscribe now to get that subscriber reward, or subscribe for multiple months, when they can simply wait until the reward is released and made available again and pay a pittance to get it?

Of course, those in favor of catering to the "entitled, have to have it, even though I KNOW I do NOT meet the requirements to have that shiny" crowd will ignore and refuse to even consider this fact, in their zealous desire to see those rewards made available to those that did NOT meet the requirements to have that shiny, perhaps including themselves.

By holding to the CLEARLY AND EXPLICITLY stated terms and conditions, BW maintains the incentive to subscribe now and really only risks having to deal with the tantrums thrown by those who have already shown they will not subscribe, even to meet the requirements to obtain those shiny rewards.

And that's based on....what?

Yeah, that's what I thought. I hear a lot of this same old song from a lot of people but there is nothing to indicate anyone would leave over this, or the prospect of getting something a year before everyone else could would be any less of an incentive than having it to themselves forever. A few might but they'd be back as soon as there is new content, just like they always do.

As for "a pittance"? Spare me, they make WAY more from the cartel market than from subscriptions and permanent additions have the potential to be a steady source of income, as opposed to sub rewards that at best would get a few extra months of subs from a fraction of the playerbase.

Maybe they won't leave, but Bioware would never be able to pull in a cash injection ever again - if they announce another "exclusive" reward, people will just laugh at them and not bother, knowing they can cry on the forums and get it anyway.

Considering that there have been more than a few posters that have indicated that IF BW were to make subscriber rewards available again to those that did NOT qualify to receive them, they would no longer have as large an incentive to subscribe and would likely unsubscribe, your first point is simply dishonest.

As to your second point, all of those that don't want to subscribe can continue to save that $15/month. Those of us that DID subscribe and DO meet the requirements to receive those subscriber rewards will continue to enjoy those rewards.

Of course, anyone who wishes to receive any FUTURE subscriber rewards has the same option to subscribe and receive those FUTURE subscriber rewards.
