Oh, so everyone needs to have their window where you want it to be? I like it being in the upper right hand side and have no problems noticing it. The problem is a personal one... please stop trying to save me Obi-Wan, you are not my only hope.

I believe chat is underutilized. The fact that I can spam for 60 minutes looking for a group tells me as much. I spammed in general, local "say" and yelling near the area. Crickets.

This is the first MMO where I've encountered this problem. It's not for lack of population. It's something else.

My theory is that it's a combination of movies, lack of grouping tools and poor chat window placement. Because of the regular general chat spam, folks turn it off. And if they don't turn it off, chances are they're in a movie and not watching it. And if they're not in a movie chances are they don't notice new messages because of the awful DEFAULT placement.

It seems that the design is stacked against chat being used be the majority of folks. Sure, some do, but many more don't.

At least that's my experience.

The only issue is when you 'zone (change planets, etc), it resets back to the upper corner. Movies I'm cool with, non adjustable UI, I'm not entirely happy about. The top left corner placement is odd and needs to be adjustable.

How about you move it yourself?

This is the best part about the Internet... it's underscores the poor reading comprehension that many folks have.

I never said that everyone should put their window where mine is. I said that the DEFAULT position is a poor design choice. That DEFAULT position has negative consequences in the game.

It's just bad UI design. Plain and simple. Making that one change would, in my opinion, radically improve the socialization in the game.

SWTOR seems to be designed in a way where player communication took a backseat to single player gameplay. And I HATE the lack of UI customization.

A list of antisocial features?

Class Quests
Spoken Dialogue
SHARDS
Poor UI customization + no macros + no mods = a lot less ways players can custom tune their communication.

Heheh, I've made a LOT less friends in SWTOR than I have in other MMOs because of the above.
We have heard that one of the top priorities of the dev team is to improve the UI. Macros and Mods don't help with communications, unless you are talking about spamming custom emote messages, which is as much a bad thing as a good one.

Voice Over is one of the main draws of the game and I for one am enjoying the feature immensely, and so are a lot of other people.

Instances do not bar communication as whisper and chat cross all Instances.

I'm just not sure what the point is here. Are you folks trying to force people to chat? How does that make any sense?

My chat window stays where I put it. Never had this issue.

Again, the human eye is drawn to movement/change. Plus there are sound effects indicating certain activity. These negative consequences of yours are completely fabricated. People are probably ignoring you because you're a condescending jerk who thinks he knows everything.

It takes a "special" kind of troll to throw a fit about the default placement of a window that can be changed about 2 seconds into the game with minimal effort, and still continue to whine about it for 3+ pages.
