LOL! Uh huh...I think they work in the same office as the "PvP Team", which is just upstairs from the "Balance Team" who work closely with the "Bug Fixing Team".
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force

Getting slow there, TUXs, that took you...what? 10 minutes to find and jump on?

I'll probably be posting on the "story going nowhere" thread or maybe the "character transfer thread" next, just a heads up.

Unless they're very different from every multiple-person dev team that I've ever interacted with or worked for; their development team is broken up into "new features" and "bug stomping" teams (though there may be some overlap, depending on workload and individuals). They're two separate but similar aptitudes, for one thing. And it's a lot easier for fresh eyes to see the bug than for the "author" to do so.

And if there are completely separate teams that only fix bugs...then why aren't they actually doing that? The bug list is HUGE and yet two, maybe three gets whack-a-moled with each patch.
A lot of minor bugs probably aren't made notable in the patchnotes or otherwise. There are likely hundreds of bugs in an MMO, it's the nature of a game. And it's not always easy to identify what may be causing it. Sometimes it's searching through dozens, hundreds of lines of code to find the issue. And a huge bug list just means even more lines of code. Not to mention, every change has the potential of causing a new bug. It is a long, long process.

I don't think I've ever seen it pop up with an Influence gain for Theron, just +500 for the active companion and +250 for the companion earned from that particular Star Fortress.Curious.

This is a concept I've been trying to get folks to see. They can't/won't. I shudder to think of the amount of code this game consists of.

You'll notice that only the first companion a character receives (eg. Vette) gets Black Talon/Esseles rep.

Yeah, that's not true, though. I've been soloing the fps for years and all companions, including HK and Treek, would get "affection" from the convos. For instance, the Kaon/Lost pair gave several hundred each for the appropriate choices. HK especially liked when I shot the pilot at the end of Kaon and told Lokin I'd kill all of his pets in Lost. The companions never really said anything, but they all gained or lost affection. When they switched to "influence", suddenly none of my companions get points from FP convos anymore. It may actually be a new design decision with 4.0 to force people to hunt for gifts, but it might as well be a bug for how stupid it is, if that's the case.

I don't understand what preconceptions they have about MMOs and games in general, but people seem totally unwilling to actually understand coding and game design is not easy and, just because you have a team dedicated to it, doesn't mean they can instantly fix everything!

I can't remember Theron getting any either. Also, since he's the voice over guy, you can't run the missions with him, which is kinda something that just sucks for the toons who chose him to raise to 50 influence. I get it, story-wise, but wish they had an alternate gibberish voice over with the Sullustan pilot if you chose to bring Theron onto the station.
