My personal opinion, for tactical, watching the story is reasonable. For Hard Mode, it is not.

If you're doing Hard Mode, then you've been there before, multiple times. Or you SHOULD have.

No different to walking into a HM ops and asking, "so can I watch the story, I'm new to this op". Yea, get out, no one should be doing the HM without doing the SM first. Well, you CAN, but you'll get a lot less sympathy.

My 2 cents.
Why? I never done a tactical. When I started doing flashpoints I started doing them in Hard Mode. There is no reason a person has to do the flashpoints the first time, story or tacticals. I didn't start doing flashpoints until I was level high enough with gear and then I started the hard modes and the first time I did a flashpoint was way before taticals were even brought in and it was Lost Island.

And the funny thing I told them it was my first fp and they said okay cool we can watch the cut scenes as there is no reason we should be yelling spacebar.

If someone says, "first time to HM", I'm happy to explain any differences from story mode, but if you say "gosh, I've never seen this before", I'd reply, "then do it in solo mode for the story and to see where it all is, then queue for HM".

You may not agree with that, and that's fine. You can play any way you like. But I've seen way too many new people to HM FP who have no idea which way the saber points. I've started to inspect achievements right away due to too many bad experiences. When I see a lvl 60 healer with 1,000 total achievement points, I already know we're in trouble.

More times than not, I'll watch that healer DPS, completely ignoring the whole healing part. Yea, yea, you might be the exception, but the reality is that the bulk of such players are in the wrong place.

You are lucky we don't play on the same server, people try this with me from time to time when I Dane to do group flashpoints and I give it to them right back. I don't care if you restart that convo a thousand times I won't spacebar through it. I'll put the convo on mute and put on a movie while you or whoever resets the thing over and over again. Either they will leave or we'll be staring at the same conversation for a few hours, gives me time to catch up on backlogged episodes of TV.

I think you missed the key part...

You shouldn't have to feel bad for enjoying the story (in a game that focuses on story!) Maybe EA/Bioware should work out a solution so both kinds of people can get what they want.
For all what is fair. Even if I understand you and you have my true simpathy, but people who actually go the first time in an Flashpoint fo the "views" should not bother the rest in a group with that. We have the rare oportunety to do all FP's in solo mode and can take as much time as we want.

You people have to understand, that a FP is not a "I'd like to have fun in there" but "darn not again that one, rush, rush, let's get finished",because 99% of the pople in there had seen it for the billionst time. Motstly you will meet in there frustrated endcap players who are doing this only for the rewards. And most of them do not like to waste time.

So please, be a little more simpathetic and understand, going in a tactical or hero FP is not a good idea, if you never was once in solomode for it.

Haha, reminds me of my first flashpoint ever in esseles story mode.

Someone spammed SPACEBAR in the group chat, I had no idea why and I got vote kicked. I thought that I was very noob and doing something very wrong, but turned out it was because I didn't want to skip the story.

Whenever I level a new character, I still like to enjoy watching the cutscenes in tacticals the first time i do them with the actual toon (it's the same as if I was replaying kotor, I don't skip any of the dialogues there either, because I just simply like the role playing and story, skipping anything takes away from immersion).

If I pay for this game, then let me play it the way the game was designed. If I get vote kicked, I requeue and put the players in my prev group to ignore list. Simple.

Don't let anyone ruin your game experience.
And I like group content, so I don't do fps in solo mode.

I suspect they created solo mode flashpoints because a lot of people were avoiding flashpoints altogether after unpleasant encounters with people like you.
They created solo mode flashpoints so players could go in and enjoy watching the story (for however many times they wanted to do that), without detracting from other players enjoyment of the game.

Question for you, if you were attempting to run 15(+) flashpoints in a day plus 15(+) PvP dailies plus any other conquest related activites to maximize your guilds chance to win conquest in any given week, would you be patient enough for that one player who has chosen not to see the story in solo mode if it is available? For that one player in the group that decides that they'll watch every single cutscene, regardless of what the other 3 players may prefer?

I'd call the lone player out on it in that situation, not in a nasty way, but point out that if they wanted to watch the story, solo mode is always available.

If I'm not trying to run conquest and maximize my points per hour, I honestly couldn't give a monkeys either way, if someone wants to run the bonus, I don't generally mind helping out. However the picture isn't a simple as it's being portrayed - primarily because it's group content. At no point should one player decide what the other 3 players should or shouldn't do, they should also be reasonable enough to understand more than just their own viewpoint.

If they can't do that, then yes, self entitled is pretty accurate as a description of them.

Even with all the flames they get on these forums, they are overrated.
* Please, gods, let me just once get a competent group who aren't trying for a speedier-than-speedy speedrun.
* Please let it not be Taral V.
* Please let the other people who don't know what they are doing (I don't, usually) be aware of it.
* Please make the speedrunners actually know the FP.
* Please make it so I don't get three pops inside a minute that are all cancelled by a 65 dropping group when he sees 65 (him), 65 (me/dps), 64 (someone/dps), 23 (healer) as the levels.
* Please make it so there's a tank who can hold aggro against me(1) without me using my threat dump on cooldown.

Lest anyone think it's just Americans and/or Brits who have the problems highlighted on this thread, I play on Mantle of the Force, the French PvE server.

(1) I have heavy gear for someone who's never finished even the first boss in any operation, a couple of pieces of 208, a couple of 220, the rest 216, except 186 relics(2) and a 220/216/216 mainhand, with 208 augments on everything but the relics. I'm not doing TFPs for the 208 gear, that's for sure.

(2) Question in passing: where can I find relics rated higher than 186 that aren't 200 glowing/radiant crystals each?

I love how the person trying to watch the cutscenes are always the ones to be made out to be the victim.

There's a solo mode, enjoy that at your own pace.

Fact is you're making 3 others sit through the cutscenes for you. ONE person is making a FP take longer than it has too. Very few are still doing it for the "story" even on RP servers.

Sorry but I call bs on this whole thing. Sure most people over-react when someone won't spacebar and act like children (like those two) but the fact still remains that YOU were making two other people sit through that for YOURSELF when you could just run it solo.

Typically I don't care...well usually I want to skip but I don't make a thing of it..I'll wait. Only time I get really pissed about it is if it's BT or Esseles, as those cutscenes turn a 15 min run into 45mins-hour or more. In those cases I typically just leave the group.

So get out of here with this "woe-is-me" crap. You can run it solo and enjoy the story without putting others out and making them take more time. I swear you people have the "victims" backwards here and in every thread like this.
