people on the internet use the anonymity to say and do things that would get them in trouble or a beatdown if you said it in person. I have seen one of these punks bring this behavior to the real world and he was not at all happy with the results. losing 3 teeth in the bar parking lot will probably teach him not to make ******** comments to people he doesnt know. then again, maybe not.

I'll use my own analogy - If you know the snake is going to bite and yet you still test it then don't cry when you get bit. Seems like common sense.
and what do you do with the ones that wont let you click them if you are in combat?

Nar Shada H2 where you click cannisters and blow up boxes as the bonus? You can't click while in combat. There are a couple of others as well. Yes, I agree, you do have to watch out for yourself. There are some people in the game who are just... jerks. I stand back, let others get their clicks if they were there first. I help clear their mobs, if they are a lower level I toss my buffs on them. I group up others for Valen on DK (yes I always ask via tell or say first).

And I used to tell the story about the Maiden and the Serpent... so I know it well. They are a serpent after all.

In the end, it's a game, and waiting another five minutes for respawn simply means I have time to get another cup of coffee. I'm not going to shed any tears over people being jerks. It happens in every MMO. I am however going to agree with the OP that it does make for an occasionally frustrating experience, and I will express that I hope their Brother finds people in the game who don't suck.

Then you finish combat and wait for it to re-pop. Is this a serious question ? The victim status in this game is I don't even know ... wow. For what it's worth I do send out group invites for stuff if the resources are limited so I'm not really defending the actions here. I guess it's more of a what the heck happened to gamers and why are we wanting to bend over backwards to create safe zones in a game. Like really!!

Your brother wasn't entirely blameless in this rude behavior. He did call the guy an a hole first.

You're going to find people like that in any game you play. Not willing to wait their turn for a clicky. It's not just in TOR. WoW and EQII (back in the day) are much worse.

And just to let you, and your brother know, those items in the chest reset before the lid and chains do, so multiple people can get the update from 1.

Call them out.

Shame them.

Players like this are lazy; it's not a far stretch to imagine they are selfish, opportunistic malingerers in their daily lives.

There's not much you can do about it, but the one thing you CAN do is let them know in no uncertain terms that they don't get to steal your hard work without being ridiculed to the rest of the population.

So shame them.

Shame them HARD.

Reading your description makes me wonder if I accidentally did this to someone else weeks ago. The mechanics of the mission are not obvious, especially if you are doing it for the first time.

There is a heroic on Republic Taris that involves clicking on glowies. Anyone can click on them, in quick succession, and they never despawn. Clicking on them starts a cut scene (which is unexpected if you didn't know the mission, since there is no NPC in the area.)

There is also a heroic on Imperial Taris which involves clicking on glowy objects that appear inside a chest. If someone before you has opened the chest, it remains open afterwards and I have found abandoned chests with glowing clickies in them that I took without issue.

The first time I came across this alliance mission, the chest was already open, and there were half a dozen people about, running around, fighting random things. No one was near the chest so I clicked on the glowies inside and left. It was only this week that I went back on another character and realized that the chest starts out with chains across it and that clicking on them spawns creatures. Looking back, any one of those half a dozen people there could have been the person who opened the chest, and I certainly hope whoever the person was didn't think I was some jerk. I actually take great pains to be polite around objectives.

It helps to assume the best intentions of your fellow players and to take these things in stride. I have had countless objectives "stolen" from under me as well over the years. Intentional or mistakes? Some are obvious, but others, who knows?

Do you mean that the items remain inside for a while and can be clicked on more than once? The mission before that one also involved glowies in a chest, and I think I recall I saw several people standing around all clicking on them as I approached. After they were done, I stepped up for my turn, and they were still glowing for me and had not despawned. I hope that is how all of them work, in which case, no ninja-ing can take place anyway.

OP really wouldn't like EVE. That's not just allowed, it's encouraged.

so you wait 15 min for it to respawn and once again fight the mob guarding it..and hope another idiot doesnt take it while you are fighting. it is a poor design that encourages bad behavior. the devs took way too long to fix(shorten respawn timers) black hole. then repeated their previous mistakes with section x. what happened to gamers is they learned to screw eachother rather than cooperate. they learned that running solo gives you all the loot, no sharing. and look what that got us.
