Umm what does getting better have to do with it? It happens quite often. You leap in to clear the mobs to get to the clickie update, someone else darts ahead and clicks it while you are finishing the mobs off. Don't even get me started on the five minute wait time for Valen where you form up an Ops group, and while you are inviting the last person who asked for the invite, some random runs in and hits him.

Basically it's just rude behavior. It's that person telling other people (through their actions) that they think their time is more valuable.

Let's play this out in real life. You go to some random coffee house for your drink of choice. You put in your order, and while waiting for the barista to make it for you the person in line behind you yells "I NEED IT MORE!" They throw their money on the counter. Grab your drink. And leave with it.

Some people on MMOs seem to forget it's other people playing with them. They believe the anon nature of the internet allows them to be jerks.

All that being said, in the end, the item/mob will spawn again. You simply have to wait... and hope the offending player's mother calls them for dinner.

He was gathering artifacts and was on the last of 5, a big concrete chest bound with 4 chains. Each time you break a chain you have to fight 2 or 3 massasi warriors until you get all 4 finished, then you can click the lid to get the artifacts inside. While he was fighting the mobs he saw someone sitting on a speeder watching him and when he was fighting the last mob, the player rushed in and clicked the chest, then the lid disappeared.
First of all, in this recruitment mission, even if someone else opens the chest (removing the lid), you still can click the artifacts inside. So in this case there wasn't any need for your brother to be upset.

That said, unfortunately there's a lot of objective thieves in this game. That's really annoying, but I don't think confronting these people is the best action. Put them on ignore and carry on. If you are really upset, report them ingame. Someone that sees anyone fighting mobs and doesn't help and instead rushes to steal the objective probably won't be civil and polite in chat.

Whining about someone behaving badly on the Internet will give you one out of two possible responses:

1: People will make fun and laugh at you.
2: People will feel emphatize with this great injustice for no more than five seconds. Then their life will move on.

3: Some people on the Internet lie and just see an opportunity to be snarky.

go to a sub only game, that will solve most of it, but not all. We live in a country/world where people claim a lot of things and try to look special in public, but once they become anonymous in a game the true self comes out, and with zero in game mods, player reports that go ignored by BW/EA, and a community that refuses to ostracize these people it's here to stay

I had a sub to Aion when it went live. That doesn't accomplish anything, the same stuff still happens. Hell, it was happening in the closed betas. There are always people that believe that their time is more valuable than everyone else's.

I know the feeling, i had had that experience from launch day of the game over 4 years ago

Some MMOs have protected the players against this by only showing the item to him, so it would not happen.

And the mobs would only have THE player as a target so it is your show.

But i know some people that would not like it this way

You have just to be patience and don't get stuff too serious.

I know, there are some respawns that takes ages to come back, i have been there also

Believe me, there is nothing you can do about this. Just move on.
Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

This is why the game sucks now. BioWare can not get it through their head that when you make the entire game complete-able by a 'noob' to the game (maybe not noob to MMO's) within two weeks, there is an issue with their subscriber retention numbers. Since the 'new' endgame _discourages_ running alts because the end game targets are so high for mindless repetitive activity (unfun grindage) you'll have to focus on a single player, so _at best_ you make one of each class and shepherd them through the 0-50 content (and reaching Max level well before hitting last class quest in the 0-50 line, then you only need to take one imp or pub through the remaining quests, whichever one you didn't do with your first character and you've seen everything.

Since it gets even easier on repeat plays, you're looking at towo months or so of content for a casual casual player.

Way to go BioFail.

If you know it's possible to do this in game and you don't take actions to secure your node which you don't own and no one really owes you anything than it's your fault. I click the nodes before I even fight the mobs ... it's not like you or your companion is actually going to die doing it. What is it with all the control freaks that have to lock down everything in this game for all the entitled people. The arrogance to even suggest that is "yours" is just mind blowing. Yes, I wish people were nicer and more courteous but they're not and it's never going to change. Like I said ... look out for yourself.

I'll use my own analogy - If you know the snake is going to bite and yet you still test it then don't cry when you get bit. Seems like common sense.

That's not the problem, the problem is they're absolutely right... There's no penalty for being a jack*ss on the internet. If there were, it would curb a number of issues.

For accountability to exist, there must be consequences. What keeps people from walking into a bank, grabbing a handful of cash from the vault and going home with it? The potential hurt feelings of the bankers?

No, getting shot, jailed or both is why. Now if that could just apply to the intrawebz.
