(And since the leveling experience will likely remain what it is, the tactical flashpoints should take it into account and be an interactive cutscene, too.)
I'm actually gonna go ahead and completely agree with this. The game needs to either go full easy mode or change the solo game to teach mechanics. It needs to be one or the other.

Since group/hard content is optional (except for the Dread Masters arc, rabble rabble rabble,) it doesn't have to be one or the other. But there does need to be a "training" mechanism for optional group content, and a smoother difficulty curve along the way.

I know companions have recently been buffed but is this a permanent change? It's an incredible shame if it's like this the whole game, it's ruining it for me tbh.
Before 4.0 this wasn't the case. Level Sync in place and companions that have been given strong powers more than intended and then taken away and then nerfed 2x because people complained they wanted the god power back. I guess you cant please everyone but its a happy medium. Be grateful for it. Don't hate, appreciate. Enjoy your story and reason why u decided to play in first place. If u think its too easy to engage with NPC encounters don't use your companion! Problem solved!! Good day!

I would take an easy MMO over a boring one any day.
You'll be the judge of which category SWTOR belongs in...

I just came back after a long hiatus. I am now about to leave again ... there i no "game" here. Just a series of cut scenes separated by some random button mashing. The random button mashing is optional. My companion plus droid for the solo flashpoints are more than capable of handling everything.

I am frankly baffled why people are playing. I thought WoW had gone overboard with dumbing down the game, but SWTOR has taken it to a whole new level.

Baffling.

Some people play for the group content. Not that they're engaging or challenging but because of the folks who they play with. Some for PVP, not because it's so great but they enjoy it for a reason. And so on. Personally I'm around because of the people who I play with. Without them this game is boring.

Different styles for different people.

SWTOR isn't a "hard" MMO. . .but to be honest, I didn't like "hard" MMO's.

Many/most people play this game for the plot and storyline, to be immersed in Star Wars lore, not for a high-difficulty experience.

Many people I know who play the game have never played an MMO before and wouldn't be playing this if it wasn't Star Wars, and they find it challenging enough just dealing with the "average" MMO experience and things that veteran MMO players take for granted.

It's not really aimed at the hardcore MMO player wanting a tough challenge, there are a few things that cater to them like Hard Mode Flashpoints and Nightmare Mode Operations, but that's pretty clearly not the target audience for the game.

They could add some new stuff that is easy-peas, average, normal, hard, really, hard, insanely hard, nightmare hard, almost impossible, and actually impossible. - and several other notches in-between.
If the reward scaled with the difficulty slider, I can't see why people would complain.

- but unfortunately there are some vocal players who gripe that just being in the same room as the computer is waaaaay to difficult- or just want to see the solo story, and watching it on YouTube is beyond their comprehension - so we have a game that is mainly tailored to them.

IMHO there should be a "1 Kill it with story / 2 fight for glory" option on every mob in game. - With rewards to match.

The game isn't even at 'put the shape in the correct hole' level of difficulty. It's more like 'watch the shape put itself into the correct hole and then get a cutscene where it tells you how it feels about it'.

I didn't see anyone asking for a tough challenge/a hardcore game. Just *some* type of game and a minimum requirement to put in some thought here and there beyond 'does the SGR flirt option make me gay'?

As the video shows, right now the game plays itself without player action beyond traveling, picking dialogues and clicking mission objectives, which is typical for an entirely different genre, not the 'average mmo experience'.
