CygnuSwan
Hi, don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but this bothers me. Swtor runs generally slow on my laptop (which is quite good). If I reinstall the game it runs amazingly smooth for a couple of days, but then it once again starts to run laggy. Does anyone have similar problems, and knows how to fix this? It kinda ruins the whole Swtor-experience for me...
OwenBrooks
The only thing I can half think of is maybe the cachefile if it runs smooth on initial install go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor and delete the file called diskcachearena , defrag the HDD and then launch the game so a new one is created. other then that I presume windows power options are set to high performance. CygnuSwan
Thanks for the response! However I am still quite the computer noob, so what would defragging entail? And what is the HDD? Just wanna make sure I don't complicate manners.
OwenBrooks
This should help - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/improve-performance-defragmenting-hard-disk Edit - not sure what OS you have , but all are similar , here is a link about high performance in power options - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/power-plans-faq#1TC=windows-7 1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box. 2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter. powercfg.cpl 3. In the Power Options window, under Select a power plan, choose High Performance. If you do not see the High Performance option, click the down arrow next to Show additional plans. CygnuSwan
Tried it, however it doesn't seem to help. Still lagging in densely populated areas/warzones. Thanks anyways though
OwenBrooks
Warzones are an issue at the best of times Densely populated areas are likely CPU , I gather you have shadows on low ? Can also try turning off name plate scaling may also help.
