Problem is it shouldn't be a little mini game.

One of Star Wars' endearing qualities has always been space combat. Unfortunately with the devs only stating they'll tackle it at some point with no further details makes me hesitate to see any major changes to it anytime soon.

SWG was the same way. Granted when JTL came up it was really worth the wait however when the game first launched there was a huge uproar about the fact people wanted more than simply a WoW clone with a star wars skin.

Right now that pretty much is all SWTOR is, just with a much more evolved storyline. I still like the game, still play it and probably will for some time but a spade is still a spade no matter how much you dress it up.

I'm definately hoping SWTOR's first major content upgrade or expansion brings on a twitch/free-flight space combat experience. It's the only major thing I've found missing from this game.

Protip: Get level 1 ship upgrades.
tell ya why i hate it.......

yes i died the first time right at the last second but retryed it n beat it with 15s to spare....thats not why i hate it

The reason y i hate it is cuz i do not like that its set on a certin path (least the first space mission was) i like the freeroam, going from the planet to space was very dissapointing its all y they made it like this and not like jump to light speed hell could of made it like eve......but space is sooooo boring compard to the ground gameplay :/ thats y i really didnt like mass effect all that much spend more time in the ship loading the planets then u walked around on semi empty planets with like 1 place to go into and couple of baddies.

the ground game is fantastic love it feels soooooooo much like star wars love the voice over n stuff and i feel like im a sith....but going to the space combat is like going back in time

i believe the space combat is fun and i agree wish it could be a little more like star wars battlefront 2 space. but other than that its hella fun!. i would like to see a heroic mode for some space missions as i do dailys every day and they are so easy... would be nice if they gave u an option to do a heroic mode for bonus exp and credits. for those who are pretty good pilots.

Pretty much it lacks what space combat was capable of in the 90s. Throwing this linear combat out this much later is just not impressive to me.

Star Fox wasn't free flight, and nobody hated IT for that fact. This is basically Star Fox space combat

It's fun, it's pretty and its a good difficulty level if you're using the Grade equipment it asks you to acquire. I don't like the fact that they re-use the missions in a few places, getting the next grade equipment makes it well beyond trivial, there isn't much strategic depth to the whole mini-game and that damn Mandalorian Minefield one is like 9 freaking minutes long!

I think if they made laser damage more deadly, it would make it a lot more exciting. But, then I'm definitely an above-average player, so I can't expect most people to be able to accomplish it.

How about a Hard/Nightmare mode? Eh? Eh?

I enjoy it quite a bit, reminds me of some old Starfox games (dont you dare hate on starfox! )

Not that I would mind improvments/changes, but as it stands, I find it quite enjoyable, even though I cant understand why the blasters make so much noice, there is no air, sound shouldn't be able to travel...

X-wing vs. TIE Fighter was a multiplayer space combat game back in what, 95 or something?

Why can't they make something like this?

-Full exploration and travel options in your ship.
-Weapons/shield/engines energy management like the old games.
-Can pilot, or man the turrets
-Capital ship engagements with friends
-Heavy, lighter types of ships
-Guild capital ships for multi-guild pvp engagements, pve missions, etc. Members control navigation, gun batteries, engineering, etc.
-Smuggler actually....smuggles.....
-Joystick support - can't believe we don't even have that
-Single seat fighters

Things like these would be quite easy to do. It has been done almost two decades ago. Imagine the fun if you were hanging around, say, an asteroid field in your stealthy Imperial Agent vessel ready to attack lone pvp targets, or you and a few friends were leading an assault group of Trooper heavy assault shuttles against a rival guild's star destroyer? Awesome.

But we get Starfox.

Guy people aren't complaing because it's too hard...lol..why would you even suggest such a thing...it is because it is a lame minigame, instead of actual space combat.. It is a dead end , how do you "improve" on a rail shooter. IF they make open space then this "space combat" would have been waste effort.

In other words , it would make a great app for an I-phone
