Indirectly Bioware may have benefited too.

Exploiters create credits => Exorbitant prices on the GTN => More people try their luck with gambling packs.
Let us turn off that gaudy flashing icon over every vendor's head.
Let us sort our companion list and hide or kick out the unwanted ones!

I seriously doubt that.

I think they should just fix the exploit and no punishment needed.

I have a feeling bioware will do nothing. This is terrible. Seems unfair that those who didn't exploit will now be at a disadvantage. I personally know people who were only given temp bans and got to keep the gear for the ravagers gear bug and I also know people who kept millions from the temple chair exploit. This is utter bs. The gm team will be too lazy to track down every single transaction and the web it creates to correct it. Many players will be able to hide their exploited items and credits on alts easily.

Nope, if someone knowingly, willingly and repeatedly performed the exploit they should be gone for good.
End of story.
If someone accidentally did it once, then maybe a slap on the hand. But willing offenders should go.

Yea.. I have to agree with Bran on that one. Seems pretty far stretched.

We get 4.0, with reduced credits drops and an exploit to gain unlimited credits? Or perhaps BioWare left it so long before patching to see who gets caught in that net, while also hurting the credit sellers in that process (which is a rather sublime side effect to this exploit)?

If it takes 6 weeks to patch this out, then perhaps there is reasoning behind it, beyond just it being a coding issue. Assuming the above, I'm willing to give BioWare the benefit of the doubt on that one.
I spit my coffee out all over the keyboard laughing so hard at this statement.

Sorry but the reason this went on as long as it did is due to one thing - ineptitude.

Whether that is due to abysmal to non-existent processes in place to deal with high severity issues, lack of oversight or management of the game and its economy, staffing and resource allocation issues, or just really poor management (or a combination of all the above) is not clear.

But there is no way in hell an organization that perennially makes poor decisions, struggles to create new content, and fails to resolve bugs and issues in a timely manner, is somehow able to execute such a complex strategy, not to mention they are a part of EA, a corporation that could care less about where the money comes from as long as it comes.

LOL... I too had to chuckle when I read this one. Got my tin hat out as well. I'm going to agree its very unlikely they are that coordinated.
