We have come out of this with quite a few action items that we are going to take, including buffs for Companions. Thank you all once again for your feedback.

It should have been done today Eric, but Monday is far better than I had expected...thank you.

Even though I probably shouldn't. The last time info was released, it turned out to be totally true.

If they do release a buff patch on Tuesday, I'd be surprised if it didn't break all kinds of stuff since it would be a rushed patch and chances are, not very tested.

Finger crossed though
Just saw that, and I hope the part about no changes to tank/dps companions being unchanged isn't correct. Was looking forward to being able to go back to staying as heals on my character while keeping my companion tank/dps : /

The tank bugs have been here since launch of 4.0 and i think getting people able to enjoy the game after nuke heals comps. That may take a bit.

There is a patch 4.0.3 coming with at least one fix. Whether it drops Tuesday is an exercise in speculation

I'm glad you are making it more accessible for players who can't play their class properly. I feel bad they missed a week's worth of content by coming on here and whining instead of learning.

Win win for those who could complete the content already, its just going to be easier lol
See the stars, they're shining bright. Everything's alright tonight.

Personal experience so far. Bearing in mind I'm running DPS companion.

73 Imperial Heroic 2+ missions completed, in many cases including bonus missions. Tally? 0 Deaths. 0 Companion Deaths. 3 Solo Star Fortresses completed. 0 Deaths. 0 Companion Deaths.

About to unlock the other Heroic Star Fortresses now I have tons of Alliance Lockboxes. I'll edit this later, want to see how much the shield generator defender has been buffed. Then I'll run some Heroic Star Fortresses.

Edit: Ran Shield Generator Defenders on 4 planets, no issues. Also ran Heroic Star Fortress (with my now influence 37 HK-51). 1 Death 2 Companion Deaths, avoidable, just due to my own impatience Still as a DPS companion.

My thoughts on it however are, for some specific classes without a hard CC they really do either need a good healer or another player to assist them. Certain mechanics of the Heroic Star Fortress really does require that being available to be able to solo that content, such as the EPHMERIS Data Center dual Knights part, and equally on the Exarch fights. I'm not in the best of the best gear, and it isn't min / maxed however I do have all of the Datacrons which would have a slight impact, the same as having the full legacy for Heroic Moments.

So I hope that the companions do get improved slightly, also being aware of this;

As well as this;

Based on these statements above, do you think that these are true after Tuesday’s changes? What content is more or less difficult than you expected? Is there something that is just flat out impossible?

-eric
I'm just going to ask a few questions.
  • If KotFE is designed around solo play story, why would BioWare have designed Heroic Star Fortress to be very hard to complete solo?
  • When the reduction in companion effectiveness was made, was there any consideration of the aim of KotFE to be solo content?

I don't expect an answer, I just thought I would highlight the disparity in the design process that has been communicated to us throughout the whole of KotFE. Personally I enjoy the challenge as it is now, but I do acknowledge the concerns of the other players in the changes that were made to companions.

Seems like you already have enough data here Eric but i would like to report that not all companions heal the same at equal influence levels. Some companions heal better than others.

But what i find most common was the inconsistency in healing. Companions heal more when you are above 80% of health and heal less when you are below 60%. On top of that they have a mind of their own and sometimes just won't heal you at all.

I think looking into this is as important as rebuffing the comps.

What drives me nuts is this. People defeat themselves in this game and then, imo, look for disingenuous excuses.

Example a few people were complaining about raiders. SM raiding in this game is something, quite literally, anyone can do. It is not hard in the least. Some probably just assume it is "work" from past games, others probably have no interest. So they demand changes designed for them, BUT since they didn't bother even trying for one of the above reasons, they then create a fiction that it's "hard work" and other non-sense because they feel they need a justification for their demands.

I can almost understand the first group but the second, those that don't have any interest period, yeah they are simply being disingenuous. The proper answer would not be "it's work and only a minority want to work in an MMO", because it's not work. To make matters worse they have no way of knowing because they've never tried. The proper answer is "I have no interest in raiding and so think resources should not be spent on it."

Other people did not even try content solo content after the change. They simply did nothing and cried because they saw a nerf in the patch notes and instantly said "IMPOSSIBLE!!!" If they did bother trying, on this, and other, threads you simply saw people post "X hps reduced to Y hps!?!?!" You then showed a parse where Y still allowed completion of a task. They ignored the fact that numbers in a video game are only as important as the result in game play and they just yelled again "X hps reduced to Y hps!?!?!?!" What was funny was if/when some people posted parses you could see THEY completed the encounter successfully BUT they completely ignored that fact in their "careful" analysis. Again disingenuous arguments.

This is not to say that people are not entitled to their opinions. Example, while I disagreed with them I respected the people who straight up said

Quote:
"I did not come to SWTOR to play and MMO. I was looking for BW:TOR 3. Those games have an easy mode and I am looking for easy mode play with no grind where I can simply enjoy a Star Wars story."
This is an valid opinion expressed in a forthright manner. It is something that I can agree to disagree with and move on. It is the disingenuous and often hypocritical arguments that have driven me to frustration during this whole debacle.
