I find it completely insulting to ask for feedback once the nerf went into effect and further divides an already fractured community. In any case, this is far more simple then people are letting on. There is only 1 question to ask yourself. Do I still enjoy playing SWTOR? If the answer is yes, then the game will continue for you as is and you'll be just fine. If the answer is no, simply unsub, leave relevant feedback in the form and move on. That's it. Comps may get tweaked at some point in the future but prepatch comps are not coming back. That is really the reality of the situation. Whether you like, dislike, hate someone of an opposing viewpoint on the matter, the fact is comps will not be reverted. Tweaked? Probably. Reverted? Nope.

My issue was never with the actual nerf, but the overall way Bioware and the community team handled the situation. For me, that is by far the more grave offense.

Additionally, the "Elites" need to dial down the rhetoric. No one cares about you thinking highly of yourselves.

I'm currently ok with the difficulty of the chapters but i do expect it to rise as the story progress.
I do not use other companions other than HK because they are just not appealing when they all have the same animations.

I have been with SWTOR since late 2011 and have enjoyed the game very much. However, of late I have my first major issue regarding the topic at hand. COMPANION CHANGE.

I have varied level of Characters so my experience will briefly cover a broad spectrum. First lets look at my most recent Character who is now level 22.

Your level: 22
Roughly Average Item Rating Level 10 Gear
Discipline: SENTINEL / COMBAT
Companion: TREET
Companion role: HEALER
Companion Influence level: 5
Which Mission or Star Fortress are you playing (Solo Mode? Heroic Mode?) Heroic 2+] Mutations on Taris and other Taris HEROIC+2 SOLO - REPUBLIC
Your personal experience while playing this content: ERIC, prior to 4.02, the challenge was good. But, I would like to see more CHAMPION levels put back in the HEROIC 2+ on TARIS. Such as use to be in [Heroic 2+] Fall of the Locust . My companion was able to stay alive and heal me as needed, being that SENTINEL cannot heal themselves on purpose. If over extended myself, I died, but not my companion. ok.

AFTER the patch. Both my companion and I died OR had to use MED PACKS on EVERY enemy encounter. Please note that I am a skilled and advance player. I try to use the best gear possible and make sure my companions is geared as well.

For my Level 22 SENTINEL, it is NOT a good experience doing HEROIC 2+ planet mission anymore as I have to keep watch on my companion who cannot INTERRUPT other NPC during the fight and IS MUCH MORE vulnerable to enemy attack.

ERIC, in regards to my more senior level Characters. My ability to kill mobs and enemy NPC is helping a little. HOWEVER, prior to the patch, I had issue with LANA, as she like to fight while healing. So she would get into trouble and get herself killed even with 100k health. SO, I use TAUNT more.

ERIC, after the 4.02 patch. I cannot focus on the game as LANA keeps crying out to me because she is getting ready to die. HER HEALS are no longer 20K-22K. They are now 5K The attacks are worse because she cannot use world wind or stun targets anymore. So, I have to stop doing these missions. Which is affecting my STORY PROGRESS.

CONCLUSION: ERIC, PLEASE RETURN THE HEALING and COMBAT ABILITY LEVEL to the COMPANIONS that they had initially.

PATCH 4.02: I do not Believe anyone was asking for this that is a PVE PLAYER SUBSCRIBER
1. Companion abilities CAN NO LONGER INTERRUPT casting times of NPCs and players
ANSWER: LET THE COMPANION INTERRUPT NPC's but not REAL PLAYERS
2. Companion base STATS HAVE BEEN REDUCED
ANSWER: RETURN THE STATS (MAKE THE FLASH-POINT or HEROIC 2+ "SLIGHTLY" HARDER to COMPENSATE
3. Companion DAMAGE AND HEALING OUTPUT has been reduced
ANSWER: PLEASE RESTORE COMPANION DMG/HEALING OUTPUT
4. Companions in the Tank role now generate additional threat - (BASICALLY A TARGET)
ANSWER: AGAIN, if increasing THREAT which IS GOOD! BUT the COMPANION NEEDS TO BE STRONGER


ERIC, Please consider these points and those of other LIKE MINDED PVE Players that actually USE COMPANIONS to complete missions and to have fun!

  • Roughly Average Item Rating: 208 with two 216 pieces (crystal vendor), 186 relics and implants, 208 augments. I have all the Presence boosts from companion stories, Legendary status, etc., but almost no datacrons.

  • Your personal experience while playing this content: I'm not a great player, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to complete the planetary Heroics now. However, I'd say you pretty much hit the desired medium challenge level for me. I did come close to dying after a careless pull in the droid factory, but I was saved by my defensive cooldowns. I should say that I'm fine with moving slowly and healing between pulls; someone who likes to move faster might have a different opinion.

    The bonus series missions were all really, really easy, so I'd say you hit that mark as well, at least for level-scaled characters.

Short answare: TERRIBLE

Long answare:
Before 4.0.2 I could easily do H2 missions with my healer Agent and his 25 inf tank compenion. Throw him 2 HoT and refresh them every now and then. Rest of the time I could do damage and so had a nice mission-speed.

After 4.0.2 it is just HORRIBLE! I must heal the tank compenion all the time AND he is doing less damage AND I can't do damage too. So mission speed drobed DRASTICAL! Not only his nerved 50% lower damage but my 2,5k DPS is missing too (HEALER SPEC before some trolls come in).
It is absolut NO FUN anymore to do missions with a Healer+useless (tank) Compenion!

Before 4.0.2 it was posible to go into Starbases with 2 player and 2 compenions just with old 192 gear. Endboss was hard but you could finish him.

After 4.0.2 you NEED 216 no set gear to finish a mini FlashPoint in decent time (less then 1 hour) where just 208 mods can drob!
STUPID
WHY should someone go into a FP with 216++ gear when there is nothing of interest for him??

So if you keep the nerv ... rename the Starbases as H4!

Here is the real concern I have. You (bioware) said you had "metrics" that you looked at that played a major role in the decision to implement the changess. Where are your "metrics" now and what are they telling you?

Just on the last bit. You have to remember Lana healing will aggro any target you aren't hitting or CCing. With the change I noticed exactly what you did. The solution was to use AoE liberally to keep aggro, even if it slows down the speed with which you kill one, or CC. I think this dynamic is why Eric said

Your level - 65 ( This is my Second 65 and My Primary Imperial, Played for years. )
Roughly Average Item Rating - 216 / Still 208 in Implants / ear and a few enhancements

To Start I was a raider - and had done quite well during those days. My guild/friends moved on and now I am a casual. I measure most things in as "time to complete" and enjoyment.
Prior to patch 4.03, I had done heroic star fortress once, as I was working on my stable of characters as well. Basically I wanted to see and then get back to work on other toons. I soloed it, in DPS stance with Mako in Heal Stance. Last 3 fights I died a few times on as I got them figured out. I enjoyed this encounter.

After Patch, My run was 3 times longer on the trash mobs, I died multiple times and I am not able to make it past 3rf Solar room, in any stance, in any combination. ( Me as healer or DPS ( either stance ), Pet as Tank or Healer.) I found this frustrating and not enjoyable.

Addressing Weekly's, I Spent 10 hours doing all of them expect Makeb ( personal preference ). No Deaths.
After Patch, it took 19 hours of playtime, an occasional death when I pulled more then I realized. Still no Makeb ( Personal Preference).

I only PVP when I need something specific, I barely group due to my sporadic schedule and having to leave suddenly. So basically doubling to tripling my time investment to do things and making something "challenging" that you have made part of the story plots has removed my ability to finish them. I am not looking to finish high end raid content...I am looking to finish out my alliance and quests and see the interesting story....really that is it.
