In this case I would replace stupidity with the words sloppy coding. If you read the EA Earnings calls since January BW was under MAJOR pressure to get this expac done and launched on schedule so that it fell firmly into the window of the new Movie's final marketing push. When you have the CFO himself putting you publically in the hot seat you don't have the luxury of moving a launch date and that can lead you to rushing deployment. Rushed deployments often lead to sloppy work which can cause issues like this.
I'm just fairly certain it's not the case this time. Just my sneaking suspicion.
I would usually agree with you (I'm also a big fan of that saying) and always consider the same which is why i said

Is that taking it too far? Am I?
I know I'm verbose and a bit mean in my posts, but I can't think of any situation where I would want to be a paying customer to someone who is at best inept or at worst completely deceitful and twofaced.

Even if what you said was the entire story, you can't just say "hey so let's just slap the brakes on this completely" as if that's something reasonable to do. Which is exactly what they did. It's specifically why they make no mention of actual numbers in THEIR posts. You know... the people sitting on the raw data and making the numbers up.
Because they want to avoid discussing them, what they're doing, at all. And the fact they just made such an extreme hamfisted "correction" with no regard to player experience until people started walking out the door. (and even then... really)

You did read the goals they had for each tier of content yes? Can you honestly say the old companions met those goals? They clearly didn't. Now you may not like that BW always intended the 65 weeklies to be of "medium" difficulty of the Heroic SF to be down right hard but this is their plan.

So people have to choices.
1. If you don't like the plan, sadly, leave. Their plan is NOT going to change and you will only make yourself more frustrated if you remain.
2. If you like or can at least accept the plan you have 2 choices. 1 be part of the solution or 2 be part of the problem by helping perpetuate a toxic environment.

Honestly, I haven't played much since Tuesday's patch. I wasn't even able to get into play until Wednesday afternoon or evening due to the issues with patching.

I do however have a huge problem with it. IT WASN"T EVEN TESTED BY THE PLAYERS!

Why do you have an option on the launcher to enable Public Test Server? I can't even find a way to get it installed on my computer. Worse is the fact that BioWare used to have a great testing system with having the game systems up for anyone to test, and the new content up for a select few invitees to test. I don't mind the idea of only Subscribers having access to PTS, but I do have a problem with an apparent lack of testing.

The fact of the matter is that we are customers, and we are the ones that need to be happy with the game, because if we aren't then we will start to vote for another game with our wallets. I currently have about 4 month of pre-paid time left on my SWTOR account, and if the testing situation doesn't improve, then I'm going to go back to WoW, which is a game that you can't play past level 20 on the live servers without a sub, but I can play on their PTS without activating my sub.

YOU want to gather my feedback?

WE wanted YOU to reply to the feedback that is pouring in on this forum. Take your patch and revert it. Enough said, mate. I bought into that and nothing else. Don't force me to leave, please.

That's MY feedback.

I have only brought my free lvl 60 through KotFE. She is now level 65 and has all 200 gear with the one piece of 208 gear that was dropped from the initial star fortress quest. I did the one and only achievement the night before the nerf but didn't get credit for it. (I didn't try sooner because I was grinding for better gear, but once the companion nerf was announced I figured I'd try it.) I'm really pissed off about it because I spent a lot of time and effort and frustration on completing the damn thing and complied with all the requirements in the written description. I opened a ticket -- the droid said submit a bug report then the bug report droid said submit a customer service ticket. I want credit for the achievement because I completed it. But I digress . . . . I don't want to play in a group. Which is why it was taking me so long to get better gear. I'm getting all this orange armor from heroics but I can't get anything to put into it without having to do missions that require grouping.

I did all the NS heroics after the nerf and found it much more tedious, so much so that I haven't even bothered trying the star fortress in either mode. Koth died a few times. I died once or twice. The companion grind is tedious enough, especially as it's repeating old content. Now making everything take longer makes the game more frustrating and not fun at all.

I've been playing swtor a lot -- it is the ONLY game I play and I play every day -- and now I just don't want to play anymore. I used to do conquests every week, but i'm not interested anymore since the changes made to that. Also not a fan of level sync. And I really want to be able to change Lana out of that hideous outfit. I never use her because of it. And I think it's ridiculous to require me to do pvp content to get some of the alliance companions.

I know I provided more/different info than you asked for but I'm not very vocal around here, though I read the forums a lot, and I figured if the devs are really reading this, I should take the opportunity to say what I have to say.

Oh I know...my point was to say I don't think this is an issue with ineptitude on the coding side, PR side maybe. The CEO of EA is a "classic" CEO. He has cancelled projects based simply on existing ROIs. He has stopped development of what devs like working on, innovative concepts, new ideas to focus on core existing titles that have historically solid ROIs. When EA axed Shadow Realms the people at BW:A were legitimately surprised. I would almost argue that can create a climate of fear.

After all of this the CFO throws down the gauntlet regarding this expac? I can honestly see them saying internally "okay its OP, get to work on a fix but we have to launch or its our butts."

I have absolutely no issues with the difficulty of the new 65 content, none zip, nada, I do hold issue with the old content having inflated difficulty.
and yes I already unsubbed, hanging around in the hopes they fix this mess they caused.
Again a simple make level sync optional would likely solve 80% of this.

Your level 65 - Sage
Roughly Average Item Rating 2 set 192, rest pretty much 216, 220, 224 (1),
Discipline Telekinetic
Companion Theron Shan
Companion role Tank
Companion Influence level 11
Which Mission or Star Fortress are you playing (Solo Mode? Heroic Mode?) H2- Voss: Not Afraid Enough
Your personal experience while playing this content:
This one heroic took me around 30 min for something that shouldn't take 15. We died like 4 times.
All I could do at some points was throw heals to Theron to keep him alive. Even then after a few it was pointless & we died. He even lost aggro a few times. These heroics are supposed to be challenging; not all out work the mechanics & blow all cds every fight.
Ran from the elites that spawned after destroying one of the machines. As these are meant to be run with your companions, they definitely need buffed some.

OK lets see.

I just came and did a Heroic 2+ Star Fortress Hoth at the middle of the night on my poopy alt, just to see if the companions really are bad or if people are just bad.

Heres my numbers for the run:
  • Guardian 65, 2728 presence, Vigilance
  • No alliance bolster buff used, nor the extra ability thingys. Solo h2+
  • Gear: Lazy legacy gear 220/224 with sentinel setbonus (so no guardian setbonus), minus 216 offhand and implants/ears, and 168/192 relics from lv 60. Only half augmented.
  • Ran entirely with Lana influence rank 31, healing stance.

Result:
  • Completed
  • No deaths

Turns out people are just bad.

Screenshots for skeptical people 1 2 3
Heals taken

I like this change, now it actually took some effort and smart use of defensive cooldowns and wasn't just a faceroll.

Could I suggest, dear BW, remove The One And Only achievements from everyone from pre-patch and make them re-earn it now? Thnx.

First, before we get into the feedback we are looking for, let’s talk a bit about our specific design goals related to Companions:
[/LIST]Based on these statements above, do you think that these are true after Tuesday’s changes? What content is more or less difficult than you expected? Is there something that is just flat out impossible?

Please give us your feedback, and we simply ask you to be as constructive as possible. Include information such as:
  • Your level

    65

    216/220 blend mostly 216

    Veeroa
  • Companion role

    Heals
  • Companion Influence level

    37
  • Which Mission or Star Fortress are you playing (Solo Mode? Heroic Mode?)

SF - Solo (did not want a repair bill to test)

*]Your personal experience while playing this content

As noted in the other post that has been completely ignored it seems.

Went in started going through mobs notice that healing was slower... and well stopped altogether. At times would

get down to 10% and then get a heal from the comp. finish fight with defensive cool downs and bubble time. Then

    get out of combat.

Out of combat ... just hanging around waiting for a heal to pop off from the comp. .... well a few minutes pass by and

still nothing. So finish up the heal back up to X and find the next troupe to bludgeon me.

All the way through and using cool downs it can be done... takes foooorrrever and a day with all the stopping and starting...

I doubt you will read this but hey who cares ... I start my day early come home late and don't want a second job. If that is what you are trying to make... a second job to finish all the companions and make the smallest group happy. Enjoy your small groups.
If you have a video or other related content to go with your feedback, feel free to link that as well as it will allow us the best insight into your experiences.

The team will be reviewing all feedback, along with supporting data, to see what / if any future adjustments need to be made. Thank you all in advance for your feedback!
