Just look at Lana and Senya. I'm convinced they don't have any of the current body types used in the game for players.

Bioware could release whole-body customizations though: whole outfits that only work on Lana, etc.
If this is true, then giving them new body types was a huge and ridiculous mistake. Is nobody at BioWare capable of thinking how this kind of thing affects players?

Just as a slight note for all the people saying that you do not get your original comps back; you are incorrect. You do after you complete Chapter 9 in the room just north of Hylo Viz there is your commander room with a data pad that has your basic triangle above it (Rewards for leveling your alliance commanders affection levels) to the right of that (north!) is a holo terminal, click on it and you can summon your old companions. Although you will receive a warning about that they are not in the story yet ect ect and it is not cannon (and no new dialogue), but if you want them now click here!
Spoiler

Now with that stated I have to concur with the OP about static gear and no ability to custimize your new comps is total BS. But look at the the bright side! Lana and crew alt appearances coming to a cartel market near you soon!

The most "unique" thing about their body types seems to be that their detailed, perfectly fitting, bulky clothing is basically a part of their body model. Ugh. If that is the case, I'd like to see customizations for them that use standard body models, thus allowing us to equip armor.

Worried about the dastardly, immoral, and -gasp- immersion breaking threat of immodest clothing? They could just include a built-in bodysuit, like some companions used to have (and Vector still has) before they had actual body skins.

If the hairstyles are also a part of the model, for variety they could make customizations with different faces that have a similar look. And in Lana's case, use her 3.0 face.

Examples:
Lana Beniko Customization 1 -- same as she is now neck-up, but with a standard type 2 body.
Lana Beniko Customization 2 -- SoR Lana (has a standard type 2 body)
Lana Beniko Customization 3 -- SoR Lana with a different hairstyle and eye color
etc, etc.
Ecc 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Only partially correct. Some of the companions were irretrievable (Rusk for example) but this new patch is meant to fix that.

You know that BW is just waiting to start selling us new companion customizations on the Cartel Market that include armour changes, right?
*waves hand*This is not the referral link you are looking for.

If it weren't for the various glitches, over nerfed companions, in terrible communication, I would actually forgive them for giving us cartel options to unlock customization. As in, clothing, and outfits, not, you know, presets like in Mass Effect 2 & 3.

The crazy thing is what's the point!??! when I'm on the fleet nobody even uses those companions because they all look the same. Why even have them? I never use them for anything. This game is so frustrating on how its always almost fun. I'm still hanging on....

Actually, I have a question about T7. If I'm playing imperial, how do I get one of his customs from pub side?

If they are Bind on pickup, can Bioware fix this or offer a comp vendor on Odessen?

I hope it's this way because they're still temporary companions, otherwise, terrible design decison. I won't be using any of the new companions if I can't customise how they look, there are too many clones on Odessen already.

It surprises me they don't think it's going to affect their cartel packs sales, most of the gear I get is for companions.

I always crafted armor for my companions, now no point in crafting armor.
