It's not like they implemented a level adjuster that scales your level to the area or anything... Oh wait, they did.

What's funny is I bet that everyone that has an issue with level sync is a player with:

1. All or Most bonus Influence from completing all companion conversations.
2. The +100 bonus from unlocking the human race
3. Has all or most datacrons unlocked and getting the bonus stats.

So I'm curious I would like to see how it plays for a brand new player. One that has NONE of that unlocked no bonus Influence or any datacrons unlocked.

How does the game play for them I wonder.

Oh, and by the way, saying things are badly balanced now isn't even remotely the same as saying things should be insanely hard. I'll give you points for gall; it took a lot of it to write those last two sentences.
Let me see if I understand.

A small minority, including yourself, wants to do ALL the content, so the XP is far too much and needs to be toned down.

Fair enough argument, I guess. But it does leave the problem is those that only want to do the critical-path. They'll be about 10 levels under leveled by the time they reach chapter 2.

The XP as it is is fine for what is intended. Getting you from 1 to 60 doing only the critical-path. Anything else you do on top of that is going to level you faster.

My advice is to pretend the level and XP system don't exist. Do your quests, pvp, whatever and just enjoy doing those, not the meaningless rewards that come from it.

The story is great and all, but this IS a game; without any kind of satisfying gameplay between the story scenes, it may well stop being worth people's time to get to them.

No, I disagree about the companions. If Bioware decides to nerf them, then I want my ability to put actual gear with mods back on them. You can't have it both ways. I'm serious. If they nerf the companions to the point that there is no point whatsoever having a companion with you because they're useless and can't be upgraded with gear. I will spam and spam the forums every single hour and day with unnerf the companions.

They took away their gear. Fine I can live with that.

They upped their influence/affection from 10k to 250k. I can live with that too.

But my *********** companions better REMAIN OP because I was able to make them OP when I was gearing them with modded gear BEFORE 4.0 and they BETTER remain OP.

If YOU want a challenge, dismiss your companion and run without one. I am here BECAUSE of companions and related stuff.

DO NOT NERF MY COMPANIONS. I am serious, every thread will be made by me complaining about what they did to companions if they make them worthless.
Bioware, please remember our companion spouses when doing new expansions. I want scenes, letters, or something from them, saying they're worried!

They only sort of did that. The sync level is always two levels higher than the highest level enemy on the planet, and only the final few enemies on a planet are actually going to be at that level. And since it's so easy to get loads of XP, if you do anything outside the critical path, you're going to quickly find yourself at the sync level as soon as you hit a new planet. So most of your time is going to be spent fighting enemies 3, 4, 5 levels lower than you are. Companion or no, that's not satisfying gameplay.

Ratcheting down the sync level two notches, and putting the option to forgo the XP reward in every quest would solve the problem of being over leveled for everything. Then adjust the companions to not be so overwhelmingly powerful and SWTOR is good to go.

Nerfing companions =/= making them worthless. We want them balanced, not useless. Useful, not overpowered.

Ah, but they had a solution for this during the 12X XP period. The White Acute Module took off the 12X buff, giving you the old XP level. If they could reactive the White Acute Module and make it reduce all XP gains, that might make everyone happy. Or some kind of diminshing returns that rewards less (but still some) XP if you're above the default level of the mission.

There are ways to do this that don't take the leveling experience away from completionists before they're halfway done but also don't force those who want to burn through the levels to have to do too much.

I personally don't understand not wanting to take the time to explore the planets and experience the whole story (which you only get if you do all the content) and instead rush to endgame. I find leveling a character much more interesting than endgame content. But just because I feel that way doesn't mean I want to take fun away from those who feel the opposite. I don't understand why they have to be so up in arms in opposition to the idea that those of us who liked the old way better should be able to enjoy ourselves.
