Is jedi consular's story that bad?

Best one line description of the class. Chapter 1 isn't boring, but it's different from most of the other classes. Most classes have you kill someone at the end of the 4 planets you visit. The Consular (can) save someone. You can kill someone too (that's the DS choice people talk about), but it doesn't make a lot of sense in the context of the story.

This class is a true jedi, they live up to the ideals of the order. The romances are necessarily strained as a result. This isn't a class that gets to screw everything they see across the galaxy like the Smuggler and Agent.

In many, many ways, the Consular is the one who won the war for the Republic. The other Republic classes helped a lot (ironically the Jedi Knight's contribution may ultimately be the weakest) but much of Chapter 2 & 3, the Consular is doing a lot to turn the tide.

I love the story. It's a story of secrets and knowledge. One more spoilery thing is below.

Below this is my referral link. If you press it you get free stuff and I get free stuff. This makes you, me....and Bioware happy, but don't let that stop you!

I never got all that into the Consular story, as evidenced by the fact that its only been about 3 months since I played it, and can barely remember the details. It certainly wasn't bad though, and it reached more into the esoteric than any other class. It also has a couple of extra nods to KotOR, so that was nice.

However, I do remember being highly put out with how you save the Council and get made a Master, as opposed to the Jedi Knight who saves the galaxy and gets a cookie... It just seemed highly self-serving of the oh-so-high-and-mighty Jedi Council...
Blah blah, referral link. Danger: May contain Unicron. http://www.swtor.com/r/9yDQXH (PS: If you do click this link, Thank You! Hugely appreciated!)

I've played through it several times. Chapter 1 blows, imo. But Chapters 2 and 3 are pretty good and make the story worthwhile. Plus <3 Nadia

with 12xp bull through the first chapter (and if you end up liking it then know it get's even better) if you end up not liking it it's not like you "wasted" much time (with the 12x)

I love it. If I could play a Shadow, I'd play it again!
Deal.

Actually the real strain (at least in terms of a male character) is the fact that you get your romance companion so late in the game there is no real depth to it and people in some cases have ended up married to the companion without meaning to.

But in terms of story its much more jedi like than the knight having more diplomacy at the expense of action, I can never got over the feeling that my knight is no more than a thug with a fancy sword just bashing his way through the galaxy.

The male voice isn't that bad, if you design a face that fits it. Some trial & error might be needed. The same is more or less true with all the class voices.

As for the story...chapter 1 seemed better suited to a LS sage healer than to any other variation of the consular. Chapters 2 and 3 revolve around
Spoiler
but I found myself spacebarring through most of it, for the first time ever during class story missions. It's not bad. It's just less interesting than all the other stories.

What Master-Nala points out is the crux of this debate. The Jedi Consular story is different than all the others. To some that difference makes the story better, but for many if not most that difference turns players off

I don't know. I feel like while the dark side on sith or even smuggler/trooper could be believable; on consular it just felt like a douche. Seemed to really not fit the story at all.

And the voice is terrible.
