If anyone thinks mercs are not good enough, they are just ignorant! Metrics prove me!!!
It's Celery not Celerity.

This post just proves that some people don't know how their own class works. Hold position is a gunslinger passive,. while in cover, ranged defense are increased by 20%,you canont be leapt to or pulled and you are immune to interrupts and ability pushback.. In addition Dodge reduces the damage you take from force and tech attacks by 75% whole active.

As for hunker down it makes you immune to all controlling effects WHILE IN COVER.

Hold position and hunker down are 2 different things hold position will do nothing against things like knock backs or knockdowns or even pushes it will only prevent you from being pulled aka powertechs and tank sins or leapt to aka tank pts and knights not speced as rage/fury. Now for obliterae that move has always been able to bypass cover so it's nothing new.

Slingers may be some what squishy in a 4dps vs 4dps arena game but they should have utterly no issues getting max dps on a target unless their is another sniper on the team, you get pacified from a sent or a PT tank drops oil slick on you. Otherwise having hunker down up which lasts 20 seconds more than enough time will make you immune to all controlling effects while in cover and also most slingers/snipers spec for heads up which gives you a 50% speed boost and makes you immune to movement impairing effects like slows and roots WHILE hunker down is active so it's very easy to get up and re position if needed. Also lasts for 6 secs which can be refreshed by poppin in and out of cover while hunker is still active have to be careful though because most of the time any class that has you targeted that can leap pull etc will be spamming it waiting for you to get up

Slingers main weakness which no other class suffers from as much as they do are heals. When they have it they turn into killing machines.

Are you sure you play gunslinger? *** does hold position have to do with Hunker Down? The guy was talking about being stunned all the time, which is a reality for all of us, and he probably is playing when he uses his CC break poorly; but as a slinger, we have it way better than most.

Why the hell is anyone even talking about hold position when it comes to CC anyway? It just protects from leaps and ability pushback; which is not knock back if thats what you are thinking.

I love my slinger but honestly cover is the most useless talent ever that makes you into a easy kill turret for stealthies. Every time I see a merc/mando QQ about being focused down easily I just say that's cute *insert you know nothing John Snow*
they're both poor in solo. so I'm hesitant to even have this discussion, but for anyone near the skill cap of the class, a sniper is easily more effective than either merc dps spec. they both burst, but the sniper bursts better. they both have dire issues with stealth openers, CC and interrupts, but sniper has better tool to deal with them than mercs.

snipers are more difficult to play, but they do have better tools to deal with what ails them than mercs do, AND they hit harder + faster than mercs, so they can pump out more meaningful burst even in matches where they're going to get wrecked.

there's no way anyone who plays those ACs to the top of their respective skill caps would run merc over sniper if winning is all he cares about. then again, if winning is all he cares about, he probably wouldn't queue solo w/o a q-sync or knowledge of trinity in queue.

Metrics obviously say the class is fine, I say we nerf foxmob a touch more, he's skewing the metrics being the last player running Merc.
