I've got a real frustrating problem, my game freezes around every 30 seconds for about 1 a 2 seconds (cursor still usable/ it moves). It even freezes in the character selection menu before i even log into a server.
I don't have this problem in any other game or when i'm just using my system.

My FPS in the game is stable around 40+ (except when it drops to 2 FPS/ freeze), my lantency in the game is around 30.

Things i have tried to solve it (nothing worked) but some improved my FPS:

I installed the the newest Nvidia driver (beta) got some better performance then the not beta one, also updated all my other hardware drivers and BIOS.

Tried all the suggested properties in game, setting the graphics to high back to low, disable the shadows etc.

Installed Gamebooster, it helped get my FPS up but didn't solve the problem.

Installed MSI afterburner and overclocked my GPU, it helped get my FPS up but didn't solve the problem

Connected my Notebook directly to my cable internet modem but also that didn't help anything, my latency when i use speedtest.net is 5 ms. (i've got 120 mbit down / 10 mbit up connection)

Re installed the game, used the fix option etc.

So it does not look like a hardware nor an latency issue, what could it be?

I upgraded my system with an SSD from OCZ (Agility 3), my OS and the game are installed on this drive.

It's an issue with the game. I'm having the same problem, though the game is fun enough that I push through the 10 FPS average. I can usually run games on high with a solid 40 FPS. But with this one, it's unbelievably low. Please fix this Bioware.

I am having the same problem on a QOSMIO X305 laptop. Exactly the same outcome, including the effect occuring on the character selection screen. Tried all the same things.. no fix. It did feel like the freezes were shorter (1 sec instead of 2-3 seconds) when I went from wireless to wired network. I have another laptop also running the game on the same network with no problems at all. Any help gratefully appreciated.

I'm using an Alienware m14x, which also has the 555m and I am having the same problems as well. About every 45-50 seconds it will totally hang for 4-6 seconds, however it's only doing this while traveling, it never did it at work. The only difference between the two times was now I am on wireless whereas before I was using a wired connection.

I am having the same issue: Every 60 seconds, I lag for 2 seconds. I'm on an HP EliteBook 8740w laptop running Windows 7. Other apps running in background are Sophos Anti-virus which I cannot disable. This does not happen on any other game or application. This lag spike occurs regularly on any server, any population, in any place in the game, even during cut-scenes, no matter which character I am on. It is consistently every 60 seconds and lasts exactly 2 seconds. This also occurred during the beginning of test, but towards the end of testing phase it suddenly stopped. As soon as the game rolled out on the 20th, it began again.

After much trial and error I narrowed down the problem. it turns out it has nothing to do, seemingly, with the video card. My laptop is my work machine, and when I am "roaming" off the Active Directory domain, this problem happens. When I tested the game on a local admin profile I made just for testing this, everything seems to work just fine. As far as I can tell, there is something somewhere throwing it off by my local user login being domain related, and off said domain.

My problem is that every few minutes I literally hit a FPS wall in which I drop from about 20 to 30 FPS, sometimes I'm in the 40s to 50s, to literally just one 1 to 2 FPS for several minutes. Then it goes back up for a few minutes. Then back down again. I've tried everything from playing on highest settings, lowest settings, the "high to low settings" trick, Game Booster, updating drivers, and it happens whether I've just started playing or have been playing for hours. It's a literal cycle of FPS between high and low every few minutes. I wonder if that's related?

If you're connected to a domain controller the FPS won't drop, but if you roam (at home) you will. I tested it at work and had no FPS issues anymore! I will try to connect to our work VPN connection and see if I can solve the problem that way because i don't want to create a local account (i'm an system administrator ) So it looks like an game issue and there is nothing wrong with the XPS or Alienware Notebooks!
