Well it was inevitable to happen really.. I remember there was a Star Wars exhibition at a museum in my city when the prequels were in cinemas. One item was a separate dark room, where stood, all by itself, a life-sized statue of Vader (2 meters or something). Just there on the floor, no pedestal or anything. The background lighting was red and there was his signature breathing sound present also. That Vader did actually manage to exude an aura of suspense.

But yea, these days Vader is no particularly scary.

ps. There is however difference between 'being evil' and 'being scary'.

I don't understand. What are those "prequels" with which you speak? (fingers in ears, hums real loud). They never made any prequels.

Vader is just as scary as he always was...

Heh.
I still miss 1990s FMV. I miss Wing Commander 3-4. I actually don't want a game. I’d prefer CYOA interactive movies any day. Until then, video games are the closest I can get...

im sure not batting an eye when one of his sons is dead is quite normal then.
We haven't seen enough of him to be sure but he looks more interesting than could be far more menacing than mr scary ghost emperor.

As I said, there is a difference between being scary and being evil.

Let me see... Doesn't acknowledge his twin sons' accomplishments throughout their entire lives. Always bore that cold, blank expression - even to his own kids. Then one day one of his sons kills the other. Then, and ONLY THEN, does he acknowledge the murderous twin.

That, my friends, is the epitome of cold, dark, and creepy. He is villain enough! To take his evil ways and apply it against own family? I say! It is far easier to be evil to strangers and acquaintances, than it is to be so to one's own children. Yet, this villain had no qualms to be evil to his own kids. And where's mom? What did he do to her?

Those few, who manage to be so evil, are the ones who would do anything without a second thought. No remorse, and no regrets. You are mistaken to dismiss him as not being villainous enough.

I like the new villain. Vitiate was take so far overboard that it was becoming immersion breaking to me at least.

Oh I don't know, he sounds about as scary as Vitiate sounded before the game was released.

(In other words, we know practically nothing about him, so judging him now is foolish)

Don't forget a guy named Hitler. He was a paper hanger, looked like a clown and burned millions in ovens, as well as causing millions more to die in a world war.

Probably one of the scariest individuals in history.

You think? How about Revan? Vitiate at least worked somewhat as long as he was just an oblique presence. Revan was rubbed in our faces. Bleugh.

ps. Im in the camp that believes it foolish to judge him until we have actually seen him in action. I also don't consider anything in this game as 'scary'.
