So many idiots in this place.

Especially those not wanting to ban people because they're subscribers, are you saying these people are now above the "law"?

You let all the corrupt subscribers stay, that's all that'll be left because they'll push away all the honest people (subs or not) who can't enjoy the game because of the corruption.

I'll actually be very interested in seeing how thorough they are in their punishments.

Ban of offenders - Pretty easy some has already happened.
Removal of ill gotten credits - Harder but probably doable. I doubt there are tools in place to do it so probably something that needs to be coded and/or done by hand.

Removal of items purchased - Even harder. Also starts to have grey areas. If I had 10 M credits and I bought something for 6 M credits then does the item get removed?

Removal of unlocks purchased e.g. Vehicles, account unlocks etc. even harder.

Then you get into the people that laundered their ill gotten gains. Suppose I created a free account went to max credits before cap, then bought things for high amounts that I posted from another account? Do they remove the credits from the person that sold it? Suppose I laundered it through 2 or 3 accounts? What if I throw in some purchases from other accounts for good measure?

Their response to this exploit will set the stage for the next one.

To be clear I didn't exploit this so I'm not personally concerned. It's more of an curiosity thing for me.

Nah don't ban them, just teach those who did this a lesson.

Keep them subscribed, but reset their credits to zero, same with preferred. F2P permanent ban, they aren't doing anything anyways to support the game until they buy something.

If people are so pathetic to do this chair exploit, they are pathetic enough to grind back up to the amount they had before.

See the stars, they're shining bright. Everything's alright tonight.

I think you're underestimating what they are capable of. Do I think they will go through all that effort with all accounts? Unlikely, but you never now. Bioware has been unpredictable lately.

Admittedly, I get a little bit more out of this deal than you do in the form of free CC but the benefits are nothing to scoff at, including 7 day sub and a free server transfer,

I still stand by my suggestion of deleting every toon except 1 for ppl who took part in this exploit. As another player already mentioned when reffering to credits gained and lost, albeit in a different thread, everything can be aquired once more by spending TIME....

This is precisely what this exploit was and still is about, that ppl took little time to increase their credit pool and therefore should be punished by taking from them that which takes time to gain. Just burn down the toons of these exploiters accounts to a single 1 and be done with it. It is BW who has every right to this action and if players threaten and even leave the game because of such a sever sanction it is no ones fault but their own.

I would be fairly pleased if Bioware did give them more than a week. I know there is one guy in the guild I'm in that exploited 80+ million credits. In our guild chat, he was pretty convinced Bioware will only give him a 7 days and take away the credits he made because Bioware won't do ****. I normally don't wish bad on a guildmate but there something that rubs me the wrong way about that. That you can be so arrogant as to thinking you are beyond that type of punishment. I'm not saying out right ban him, but maybe knock him down a peg at least with a couple week ban.

Well, apparantly they handed out the 7 day ban to pretty much anyone using the exploit as a starter. Then they're gonna go through the offenders on a case by case basis and punish those who exploited heavily with further bans or item/cash removal.
So he's not out of the woods yet.

Thats what I said to him. He seems pretty confident they aren't going to give him tailored punishment though.

So no witch-hunt, and the punishment certainly fits the crime.
Not in this particular thread, but during the Ravagers exploit debate it was pretty rampant. New threads posted for status updates to make sure offenders were punished, etc. And yes, there were posts wanting to know who did what. None of which BioWare responded to, nor should they have. Obviously there is an issue with the current exploit. BioWare knows. We know. I don't understand the "OMG permaban them" folks that come out of the woodwork. BioWare will determine what the appropriate action is, and how to deploy such discipline, and that should be good enough for us.

Anyway... good debate. I think we're on the same page
