Exactly! From my experience on other mmo sites there are fewer and fewer of them but the ones that remain seem to be the ones that were hurt (I'm still not sure how that's possible) the most by SWG over ten years ago .

Where I'm going is, please be upfront with what changes are happening and how they will be handled, things like specifics on how old content is changing and will level 60+ players bea able to access pre-KotFE planets.

Please don't wait until beta or too close to release to give this info, if you wait until then, if people hate it, it's too late to change anything.

This isn't a "DOOM" post, I'm hoping to prevent "DOOM" posts later.

Also, I know I won't get an @Bioware reply, but hopefully someone will read it and think about it.
SWG was already dieing subscription were falling and Sony thought if they made it like WoW people would come back or they would get hundreds of new users

You can research the subscription drops on google if your interested
Was before F2P

Well, I think that is a debatable topic. From my view, it kept the game alive a lot longer than it should. SWG was a "dying" game before NGE. I would dare to say it was dying before the CU. The NGE "wowified" the game and made it more accessible to the general gaming community. Certainly the changes in the NGE killed it for the core SWG player, but I think without it, the game would have shut down a lot sooner than it did.

That being said, I agree that we need more details on this expansion, sooner rather than later, in terms of the gameplay elements that are changing. Most worrisome to me is this "revamping" of the original game to streamline the original class stories. I am and will always be an advocate for allowing people to play a game in its "normal" manner. Hence, allowing people to opt out of 12x XP. However, since this revamp does not sound like a continuation of 12x XP, then we need to know what it entails, and we really need to know it now. A revamp could and would impact every single player in this game, and if it is something that does not allow for options for playing in a "vanilla" manner, then the players need to be informed of that sooner rather than later. I PMed Eric and Tait about this issue, and I hope it is not overlooked or swept aside like many other issues in this game of late.

Personally speaking, if any revamp affects my ability to play the leveling content the way I do now, then this will be the first time I seriously consider not only cancelling both of my subs, but not playing the game altogether.

SWG was a niche game has were all other MMORPG out in the market before WOW. The subscriber numbers of the most popular ones went from around 200k to 500k. SWG had once 500k subs. The game offered several really spheric planets, with no instanced and we could actualy go around the globe. The creatures we hunted had what was called pack instint, it was the first mmo to use it, meaning if you one mob you could be attacked by his buddies if they saw you. It looked great back in its day, and it had a great community with established player cities and consented open pvp. I say this so you get a glimpse of what made that base game so special has a hobby for a lot of us. And the game was still having 100k players before the NGE, but they hoped for more, and got 10k left after, so decided to close. Above all, was a big lesson. And those 100k tried to warn them. Then the 10k left didnt understand why paying the expensive copy rights of such a brand wasnt worth it with such small subs level left.
This pretty much sums the all history.

Which is exactly what you should do if you stop liking the game. Too many people do that, the game will croak and we'll all go do something else. C'est la vie in the big MMO city.

Dont think, that Bioware would ever add features like NGE... but what they could add is an auto attack feature for the default attack
click on it, you will love it

After all the years of the SWG crowd doing their best to remind us about SWG....doesn't this seem like the moment they've all been waiting for? They seem to love to try to connect one to the other every chance they get. I will never understand why there were players posting here connecting the two over the years I've been subbed.

They're changing leveling? So what?! Haven't they already "enhanced" the leveling experience to make it more "enjoyable" for the player? Combat is changing? So what?! Haven't they already done a lot of combat changing over the course of this game with their attempts to balance? They've taken away abilities, added others. Gotten rid of skill trees for disciplines.

It seems to me that some people just have to see everything as some sort of glass half empty scenario.

Either way, I see the Bioware Defense Force is currently in full force now on the forums.
Except it ain't!! NGE was a major overhaul of SWG this is just an expansion with no major changes to the base Game therefore the comparison is like trying to compare an apple to a watermelon.

SWTOR will at least leave a mark for the progress it made on storytelling in MMOs at initial release, for what comes after, I personally liked it but I know many didn't.
Ain't that the truth. The funny thing is, out of all the gamers I interact with, the only ones who know what SWG is/was are the ones that actually played it at one point. And those people are only a very, very small number of people compared to the ones who have no idea what I am talking about when I mention SWG.

Which is why we should know how the leveling game will change sooner rather than later. If, come expansion launch, I can't play it the way I do now, then I want to make sure the time I have left is put to good use, finishing the content on as many alts that I can before I put focus back into one of my other games.
