It's "elder game", guys. The day this game gets an actual "endgame" is when BW pulls the plug on the servers. MMORPGs don't have an "end".

Translation: I do not understand the resources, money, or time necessary to completely remake the game, nor do I have the knowledge of game engines to know that this is not a simple process; therefore, I will make this demand, as well as touting to be a "community representative."

EXACTLY!!!

With my extensive history of modding levels and doing models for mods in games like UT, Jedi Knight and Battlefront, I'm pretty much a freaking "expert" on all video game design

They've outright stated multiple times they used it in the beginning for prototyping, but do not use it in the final game. They were using it until they could get their own engine up and running, so that they weren't needlessly blocked until they could work in their own engine.

It still reads to me as the same thing that SWTOR is using, an engine build from base of HeroEngine. So As I was saying, it is not using Heroengine, in the same way SWTOR is not using HeroEngine. They both use their own custom engines that have their basis in HeroEngine.

SWTOR's engine however was based on a much less stable and finished version of HeroEngine, so it has problems that TESO's engine doesn't.

It's one of those situations where the less you know, the less you know about what you don't know. Which is exponentially more.

The reverse is true when you know more, you incrementally gain awareness of what you don't know. It's typically humbling for me at least.

I develop custom apps for work and have devved on api's for medical devices, but I know nothing about game development beyond the basic tool sets and likely challenges.

LOL! Another shout out to that old classic thread. Nicely done.

I may necro that baby as it was just the most fun I've had replying in this forum to those who think an engine is like a toaster.

This game is listed as a MMO so why not make it a proper one.
The community has been asking for this for a long time now. Make it so.

Except it's not. They used it for prototyping. They loaded up the Hero Engine, imported some of their assets and tried out some ideas. Then when their own engine -- not based on or built on top of the Hero Engine -- was far enough along they threw away the Hero Engine and put all of their assets into their own engine instead.

It's like building a prototype with a 3D printer during the design phase, and then for final production having it machined in a factory. The 3D printer isn't being used for the final product.

I do this stuff for a living and I can assure you, it is an easy process. There's no reason for BioWare to give us an expansion without upgrading the engine to something new. Absolutely. No. Reason.

Okay, no I don't. I'm an author. I don't know jack or $#%@ about the development or engine ends of a game. Hell, I'm glad I was able to eventually figure out InDesign. I just wanted to sound like so many others at these forums.
