SWTOR should do something in honor of Christopher Lee

As much as I've appreciated Christopher Lee over the years, I don't really see a link between him and SWTOR.

I wouldn't be upset if they did something of course but I also see no reason or need for SWTOR to do such a thing.

To borrow a line from the rebooted BSG, "All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again."

They don't need a logical justification to put a tribute to Sir Christopher into the game. Temporal flux, rakata tech that shows the future, psychic Force impressions from future millennia, whatever.

Or have in-stronghold statues that depict one of the two Carandini brothers - Master Carandini for the Republic, or his Dark Side twin, Darth Carandini. And come up with some sort of pre-Old Republic history for them - heaven only knows that we've seen a lot more nonsensical gobbledygook in-game.

It isn't canon. Who cares? Lee wasn't a huge contributor to the films. Who cares? People don't think it's appropriate. Who cares? Put something in-game, and those of us who appreciate the gesture can enjoy it. Those who don't can delete it, ignore it, whatever form it happens to take, they don't have to partake along with the rest of us.

What they could do is have Serenno as an explorable world and you could meet members of House Dooku, one of the Great Houses of the planet. There could be the descendants of Dooku who the player could help. The then current Count of Serenno could be voiced by Corey Burton, the voice actor of Count Dooku in the Clone Wars cartoons.
If you'd like to see more Explorable Worlds in Star Wars: The Old Republic,
then head to this thread and discuss, list and vote which you'd like to see and explore in the game:

He directed two of the Star Trek films, wrote two autobiographies "I Am Not Spock" and "I Am Spock", made the phrase Live Long and Prosper what it is today. He even had an asteroid renamed after him to remember Nimoy as Spock. Long story short, Nimoy WAS Star Trek. Hate to say it but Dooku wasn't all that important to the Star Wars universe.

If anyone from Star Wars deserves to be memorialized in any way it's Mark Hamil, James Earl Jones, and Harrison Ford; and they're still living. Hell even Hayden Christensen deserves it more.

Of course Lee was a great actor and had a ton of good roles under his belt and a pretty long list of movies behind him, not belittling his career.

I really don't think "Is he as important to this game as Leonard Nimoy was to Star Trek" makes an appropriate dividing line for when an MMO can give someone in-game recognition. I don't think BW would be slighting Lee or making any huge oversight if they don't do anything, but it would be nice if they did. A statue of this era's "Count of Serenno" who bears an uncanny resemblance to his great-great-great-...-great-grandson Dooku or something like that.

Problem is Count Dooku didn't exist during this era of Star Wars, remember this is 3,500 years before the events in the movies.

Even though SWTOR is not part of official canon, I don't think they can add new planets to the SW universe without permission from the Story Group.

While I think adding Dooku's homeworld, Serenno, just for the sake of Lee's passing would be overdoing it, if they did go that route they wouldn't be 'adding a new planet to the SW universe' - it's already appeared in a couple of novels, a few comics, and around a dozen episodes of The Clone Wars TV series.

(Everything they put in game does still need Story Group approval, of course, but that would be the case whether they were putting in a planet, a statue or just a lightsaber.)

Well then what about those who appreciate:
Canon?
The fact that Lee wasn't a huge contributor to the films?
The People who don't think it's appropriate?

Yeah, that's my bad, I was thinking the planet was named after Dooku/Lee in some way and not the actual name of the planet as has been established. Brain fade on that one.

But anyway, absolutely agreed that adding the planet would be going way overboard for a relatively minor character that was nothing but a pawn in the Emperor's grand scheme.

I rather like this idea. Seems like it would be easy to create and pump out even if it's just a daily hub.
