I can't believe I just read that Eric... I seriously don't know what to say.

So a dev got harassed by players who are not happy with the state of the game 3 years later? So find out who they are, ban them if you have to, remove them from the forums, contact the FBI... do whatever you have to do that people, or companies, do in case of criminal harassment.

But to say you will stay silent? Here's another thing that will happen... you choose your MO to be silence, I will choose to unsubscribe.

Your post threatening us paying customers is beyond infuriating, I want to cancel my sub right now just because of what you bolded -- your public threat. It is beyond unprofessional, I really did not expect to see anything like that. If your skin is too thin to deal with public and everything that comes with it, please look for another job. And if this is criminal behavior, then deal with it that way and keep it private and off the forums.

I don't know what to say, seriously disappointed with the way this company deals with public.

Edit: I wish you guys had been communicating from the get go, then you would have run into these issues 3 years ago and learned how to deal with them. We're now 3 years into the game, you're just starting to realize communication is key but you're so inexperienced and sheltered, it's sad that this communication experiment may never get past its infancy. However, should it fail I see no reason to keep playing this game, sad to say.

You're dismissing real world criminal conduct as if your perceptions of your treatment in a game somehow justifies it. Your attitude is part of the problem.

No you're right...

maybe next time I go to Costco, instead of greeting me, they will threaten to kick me out because some other customer was rude the day before. That's always good business.

They're threatening us, normal, paying customers, that they will stop doing their jobs because someone else was rude and/or engaged in criminal behavior.

Do you realize that?

The post from Eric is so unprofessional, I'm surprised it passed QC from management. Criminal matters should be treated in such way and be kept private; otherwise you do not threaten your customers that you will stop doing the job you get paid to do. I guarantee you, they will no longer be customers.

Who's threatening to kick you out of Costco? The manager of Costco is threatening to stop talking to you about what he puts on his shelves because people like you are running down his family and angrily telling them to have him get Raisin Bran up there. Lawyers step into these situations with big grins on their faces assuming your friends have any money at all. The Costco manager is under -0- obligation to talk to you about what he stocks in the first place. Game devs here are under 0 obligation to post on these forums. Whatever it is you think your anger entitles you to, you need to read the EULA.

Here's a suggestion to Eric and the management team.

Instead of wording things as 'alternatively, we will not talk to you' next time you put things this way:

---This and that happened, we took actions against such players in and out of the game. We will not share more as this is now a criminal matter but we want you to know that we understand a few bad apples do not make a batch, and we want to express that we will continue working with you, our loyal customers, in bettering this game through communication and free exchange of ideas.

At the same time we wish to share our sadness that such and such had even occurred and want to state that all such matters will be taken very seriously, as they have this time, and will be dealt with swiftly.

To everyone else, happy gaming!---

This is the internet. What is the FBI gonna do when people doing these attacks know to protect themselves?

If someone expressing their opinion puts their family at risk, they will stop expressing it. That's just human nature. Unsub if you must, but the community is to blame

Maybe I'm overreacting, and you guys are right, but I've been doing management and customer service for the better part of the past two decades and I expect a certain standard of professional behavior from other companies, especially those I pay to provide a service for me.

Telling customers you will stop doing your job because a couple, among a million customers, acted criminally is uncalled for. If they stop communicating and think they can privately develop a game they want to develop without talking to anyone, by all means they can choose to do so, but many will choose not to pay to watch them do that.

Take a second, step back and try to have some empathy. Some idiots thought it was appropriate to harass a man and his family because they don't like what he did to their video game character. That's frightening, because someone stupid enough to do that is stupid enough to get violent. Of course any rational person would just be silent, and do what they will. People will leave or stay in any event.

Blaming the victim isn't going to help. If anything, your post justifies that statement.
Below this is my referral link. If you press it you get free stuff and I get free stuff. This makes you, me....and Bioware happy, but don't let that stop you!

I also do management and customer service, and while you are correct I think you are confusing our venue for theirs.

This is not your average customer service interaction, and they (the developers) are not in the customer service business. These are the guys that are behind the scenes and they are under no obligation to share with you the way in which they create a product.

If an automaker chose to make changes to a vehicle, they would be under no obligation to share their thought process and they certainly would be under no obligation to deal with personal threats and harassment (not that auto fanatics are that *********** crazy).

The bottom line is that if you don't like their product, don't buy it.

If you dislike what they are doing, do not buy it.

To go all Fatal Attraction on a developer is lunacy and is probably punishable by some serious time in jail.

EDIT: To further my point..

Not so long ago, Raisin Bran changed the amount of raisins in a box. I'm fairly positive nobody e-stalked their cooks or whoever came up with that plan, and nobody harassed anyone over A BOX OF *********** CEREAL. This is a video game, which is even less serious than my morning nutrition.
