I sort by price every single time and have never had an issue. I don't even punch in a price range value.
I even sort twice just to be sure. Sometimes the sort seems to not work just right.

And right now, there's a seller literally called "scam'alert". THAT'S A CLUE!! lulz He posts random stuff for multiple million creds. So sometimes the "scammers" are courteous. They id themselves.

As has been said, this is not a scam.
It's called price gouging. Let the buyer beware.

The first thing I do whenever I am on the GTN (either as a buyer or seller) is sort by price from lowest to highest so the lowest price is displayed first in my searches. You have to click the sort column twice, the first time will display from highest to lowest and the second time will display from lowest to highest. And if I'm buying in bulk, I will sort the other column which is for the price for each item, again from lowest to highest, so it displays the lowest price of each item with a total sales price that is based on the quantity. This will work most of the time unless you are dealing with the only item on the GTN.

Uh, he probably isn't trying to scam. If s/he posts random grade 11 mats, with the quantitiy of 1, they're probably just doing it to prevent these scams from working.

Fixed it for you. It's not a scam, you paid for the product they showed you at the price they showed you. It is price gouging, however.

The rest of your statement is true, however. Those people are just trying to help people remember to switch sorting around.

You can already set a price range in the search.

If you can't tell the difference between 6,000 and 6,000,000, not sure what to tell you.

Per BioWare being stupid, not using the plethora of existing tools, and not reading numbers at the 3rd grade level is not an scam or an exploit.

They already truncate decimals to 2 digits.

If you see 3 digits after what you think is a decimal point, here's a hint, that's not a decimal.

This is exactly how it would be displayed on the GTN:

1,987,654,321 <--- not a decimal
1,987,654.32 <---- decimal

See the difference? It'd doesn't matter if your country uses a full stop for a decimal point or a comma for a decimal points, the game will only display 2 digits after a decimal, if there is 3, it's not a decimal.

how about this?
. . . . . . . create a new 'Purchase Alert' to protect GTN buyers
.

The idea is to reduce GTN buyer errors of EXPENSIVE items to never-happens-again and count that as the main sort of protection needed.

A brief overview:

To successfully alert a GTN buyer that they're purchasing an expensive item, we can modify the old purchase confirmation window to color-code the price and for the expensive items we'll always get purchase confirmation:
.
  • display the price in an attention-grabbing color at price triggers of:
    . . . . 75,000 . . 250,000 . . 2,000,000 . . 10,000,000
    .
  • for items costing 250K+, ALWAYS show the Purchase Alert with a 5-second delay on enabling the "OK" button. The delay will be reduced to a 3-second delay if the Preferences checkbox for 'Purchase Confirmation Dialog' is switched OFF.

.
Boring conversation anyway.
Think twice. . . Think again.
Nullius in verba. . .

You really don't see the resemblance? Amazing.

Granted, you have to be in an awful hurry or be not very alert to not realize it in time. However, since that's pretty much the default human condition, I wonder why there's ANY pushback whatsoever when someone suggests there might be scams going on that are just waiting for someone to fall for the (possibly) intentional pricing tricks.
