just to add my 2 cents as someone else had said i would not put snipers in the bottom tier, they have far too much survivability and immunity to gap closers etc... they are middle tier to me.

as a merc main though who is too stubborn to give up his favorite class i can say without any fear of contribution whatsoever that the one liner on us is 100% accurate, and everyone knows it.

it has been this way, and will continue to be this way until we get something to offset it... it isnt like we do so much damage more than others to justify making us the ultimate glass cannons, because we dont.. and even if we did it doenst matter if your dead inside 2-3 GCDs and have no time/chance to get any shots off.

its clearly a conscious decision to limit mercs, the devs cant be that stupid as to not know what the entire community knows... though i dont know why they would do this and continue to have their heads in the sand about a class clearly weaker than others in the top pvp tiers.

Hatred doesn't really bother me all that much either with evasive screen and revitalizers, but the problem I have with the tankspec is the amount of control they have, the amount of defense you can still get with no tank stats, and the quite decent damage (more than enough to 1v1 someone, even if it does take a bit longer) it can put out.

This is Bioware we're talking about. They let Smash run rampant for.. how long? And let operative DPS, and madness sins utterly suck for.. how long?

It has 40-44% dmg reduction thats all. Hatred and Deception can root you 3 times.

True, however Mercs have been this way since day 1 in pvp.. our basic skillset has never changed much in that time in terms of survivability skills.

There are and have been obvious needed nerfs since release that have for the most part eventually been addressed, just as i suspect the current crop will be sometime before 4.x, but for whatever reason the defensive skillsets of Mercs have been as they are since the beginning.

My sentiments exactly. I refuse to give up commando, but I am not blind to how bad they are.

You are right. 100% versus white damage but snipers also get 75% versus yellow damage.

When merc disciplines were announced was disappointing, when some appeared in the rwz it was hilarious.
For the merc to get pre 3.0 survivability a re-arrangement of the utilities is enough. To achieve competitiveness in rwz
give back enhanced self heals or 4s stealth as maras or move 12s immunity from assins to mercs (at least that inspired utility will remain).
