As a returning player, the 12x XP was a big draw for me. I had 5 level 50 toons and so it definitely made it less of a grind to get them all to 55. Plus, I decided to try the Republic side and it actually made it much more enjoyable to just do the class quests. Otherwise, I don't know if I would have ever tried going Republic. I think having the 12x XP as a Legacy perk is a great idea.

Hell make it a Cartel weekly pass of some sort..But it's been awesome to see other class quests (story) with out all the side experience requirements.
bump!

I play SWTOR from time to time, but since I've done nearly all the "side-quests" on both republic and imperial side, leveling other characters became very annoying.

Now that the 12x experience boost is in place I'm having a great time again because the class stories are just great.

However, when this boost is over I'll definately stop playing (and subscribing) it til it's up again.

To my defense, I can't play much due to job an family and don't have the time to play with others so PVP is not for me - though I understand the arguments of those who do.

My suggestion would be:
Make this boost available to those who have a certain percentage of achievments (e.g. titles etc.)
and make it optional for those who want to level with New players (perhaps during char creation).

Making this boost exceptionally hard to achieve does not make sense because those who meet the requirements often have played all the classes to max anyway.

I would like to see them keep it for subs, I, like many other players have played all of the side quests and find it annoying having to play through them all just to level.

It'd be pretty sweet. Due to real life circumstances and technical issues (in that order), I've only had enough time to get one character to 40 using 12x EXP so far. Having full access to it would be pretty fantastic.

And in reply to people crying: it's not a fundamental issue of 12x EXP if people queue for group content underleveled, that's an issue with the players themselves.

I'm in line with a lot of others, I love the stories they've written up and I've done all the planet stories, but they get really repetitive by your third character on a side. So for people that would like to run the stories it would be great if they could get some kind of major boost for their characters. If they were to keep some sort of boost, be it 12x or something reduced like a 6x, I think it should certainly require some sort of Cartel or subscription purchase.

I would also say a person must have at least one level 50 or whatever level the class ends at (if they add more story) to purchase the upgrade. I've seen people mentioning concerns about group content and crafting, I personally would even be willing to see characters that have had the boost be not allowed to access group content and have some sort of reduced crafting ability. Of course there would need to be a way to restore these abilities to characters once they boost is cancelled, they would need to meet some sort of other requirements I assume.

Players that don't want to make the concessions can always use the existing experience boost items if they want to level faster.

If 12x were to be implemented it should only allowed for only one character in your legacy and for those who are subscribed and only after paying a hefty price. After that character is finished it should never be allowed again unless the person starts a new legacy account and new subscription. This will satisfy the long term players who have actually spent them time leveling their legacy characters and EARNING OUR PERKS and the story hunters and the first time players who may feel daunted by the prospect of leveling their character 60 levels (...and biowares pockets). Otherwise 12x should not be used to circumvent the legacy system players who have long played the game earned the rights to.

Don't forget we have lots of other "perks" to help us level. There are 25% consumables, 10% guild bonus, 2x rest xp, and the occasional double XP weekends. So with all that there's should be no excuse why 12x should ever be expanded beyond what I have proposed.

I'm a little late getting into this thread, but I wanted to chime in. I am heartily in favor of keeping some form of the 12x boost in the game. Lots of reasons, both personal and game-wide:

1. The type of player this perk caters to is often the very players who already have multiple 55's and for whom the game may be losing luster. It breathes new life (and interest) back into the game, encouraging repeat play-throughs of classes, which could prolong the time players spent sticking with this game.

2. It revitalizes end game by allowing players to more quickly get a new character up and ready if they decide they would rather play a different AC or class than those they already have.

3. It showcases the STORY, which is the true crowning jewel of this game.

Personally, I am enjoying some of the stories so much more this time around, because they feel more cohesive and relevant when you do them all in a row and without distractions. I can't tell you how many times I walked into a cut scene only to meet an NPC acting very important and like they already knew me and I'd be thinking, "I don't remember this character at all." Or, "Why am I here again?" But now, I feel more invested in the story and don't forget things like that, because I don't have 8 millions other quest lines bouncing around in my head at the same time.

As it stands now, I imagine most players have a personal limit to how many alts they can realistically level up without getting bored or frustrated. I already had 8 55's and 8 more characters after that in various stages of leveling when this perk came out. I really wanted to play those other 8 alts, but it was becoming a slog and I didn't have the time or the energy for it. It takes me about 3-4 months to level a character from 1-50, and that's playing virtually every day, and doesn't include doing Makeb to get to 55. Once I started doing end game content that number got drastically longer because I wasn't focusing on just leveling one character anymore. Now? I can level an alt to 55 in about a week. Characters I had basically given up on are now getting serious consideration as new end game chars for me. And I'm loving, loving, loving the stories all over again.

Obviously, there will be restriction on a perk like this. I don't expect a new player to have access to it, because they would miss out on a huge amount of game content and would have a terrible time learning the game and getting equipped. But for the long-time player it's a god-send.

I'm in support of making it a subscriber perk that can be toggled on/off.

When SWTOR first came out, it made a big deal about being story-driven. Without the 12x perk, I never would have played through the stories on the characters I've made since it started. It's just too big a time investment for most people to play 8 characters through the entire story, so the majority of players completely miss the majority of the class stories in the game while being forced to experience the planet story chains repeatedly for each new character.

It doesn't need an excuse. It's something a lot of people want that makes the game more enjoyable for those who would utilize it. Any ill-effects we see it causing now would greatly diminish without the time-constraint ("must level as much as possible before Dec 2nd!"). I have yet to see a valid argument for why this shouldn't be implemented.
55's: Sage - Caranx | Sentinel - Wu'Chi Gunslinger - Jhaxx | Commando - Chronix
Assassin - Thoraxx | Juggernaut - Haxxion Operative - Axihn | PowerTech - Drexxin

<55's: Shadow - Nexxon | Guardian - Daexion Scoundrel - Jhaxara | Vanguard - Chronox
Sorcerer - Thoraxa | Marauder - Raxxon Sniper - Draxxon | Mercenary - Laranxa

Because in IRL people don't get 12x the money for the same amount of work others do. You should not expect anyone to hand you a free meal. You sound like an entitled kid who gets whatever he wants. " I don't want to work for my rewards just give them to me."
