Actually, having a 2nd spec helps the healer and tank shortage TREMENDOUSLY by not forcing players to play JUST a healer or tank if they don't want to do so.

No one who wants to DPS is going to give up their DPS spec, but if they have a dual spec that can allow them to tank or heal as well, they'll likely take it.

I don't see the need for macros, personally (maybe chat macros) but dual-spec makes the game much more flexible and able to adapt to real life a great deal better than it does right now (ie tank or healer needs to leave? no replacements around? dual-spec to the rescue).
"Skill" is the only PvP stat anyone should ever need.

When it comes to this topic I would agree with the skill trees for duel-specing but not AC! It clearly states that what you pick for your AC will not be able to be redone!

And I don't think we will see them soon :P as BW stated that they want to stimulate players to re-experience leveling content and a lot of social (including heavy chat usage) interaction.

Generally speaking I really hope that BW realized that making part of the game effortless (i mean XP, game features, gear, credits, achievements, etc....) is making some of the ppl happy only for a short while until it becomes standard - then its just another boring standard that ppl have at their fingertips, and when they in the end have all they have nothing to play for and try achieving.
Well that is only if you base the game's life cycle on Wow's life cycle. Then of course.

But really, this game should include all the conveniences that we are now used to, and this game's future should build it's own lifecycle, not follow the trend.

I agreed with you on that portion of your post. Some people want everything handed to them. Casual or hardcore however has nothing to do with the dual speccing topic. History dictates that the vast majority of people in other games (like warcraft) who cried and cried for dual spec were the hardcore gamers. They wanted that versatility for raiding. In other news where are my hoods on heavy armor?

Dual spec, not required, that's a fact, it is not REQUIRED. Sure it'd be nice for all you casuals to be able to change spec whenever you want, right? But no, don't ruin the game 10 days after release, please.

Macros? Really? You really think that you can only play this game, if Bioware allows you to only click on 1 button? Sorry, but your logic is flawed, not his.
+1 ...

Dual spec & macros will make the game easier... in my point of view this what made Wow so popular... (but it is only my own point of view...)

in Rift dual spec ruined the game... sure, everyone can tank & heal.. but than no one is special... why roll a warrior if a healer can tank ??... why roll a healer if a DPS can heal...
And the same thing with the macros... In Rift you could play your level 50 with 2 botons... com'on...

and btw there is still a little place for dual spec, because you can always spec you talent tree as a heal or as a dps etc..

this is only one week in game... wait at least a month or two and you'll see there will be enough healers & tanks...

No just no.

Changing your AC or let's just call it class is something you should not be able to do.

OT I don't really care I probably wouldn't use it I'd rather focus on the spec I choose for my character.
Do you like bananas?

I don't think you should be able to switch back and forth just to suit each mission, if you lose a teammate that was a healer or tank due to real life well oh well, deal with it. Now I do agree that maybe perhaps a little more freedom on lvling up to choose how your ch. is would be nice i.e if you want duel wield, a tank, a dx ch., etc. Not so locked in to just choosing a prest. class. But, perhaps they did this so that the game engine was easier to support I don't know. BUT, you should not be able to switch between tank, healer, etc. due to individual missions and/or pvp fights just to suit your needs, kind of takes the fun and challenge out of things. For all you hard core people think of it as real life situations where you can't change yourself to fit every challenge or situation.

BW mentioned they would put it in eventually. They are just waiting untill the majority of the population is endgame. It would have just slowed production time even further for something not needed right off the bat.

I really don't get how people are against this, aside from the whole ''omg wow had it so it sucks and is not needed" mentality. Not having dual spec is just stupid, its not like you CANT respec from dps to healer when you want to, just that its a pain in the *** right now, and having gone from dps to heals a lot by now on my character to do flashpoints (/gasp I can learn how to play a spec without doing it from lvl1 nowai) its just mindless to think its not needed.

It is not gonna make the game easier, running to an npc in a city to respec =/= difficulty, its just a waste of time.

Not only this, but i also happen to enjoy PVP'ing alot, for which I use a completely different spec that is based on high survivability and CC, I don't see why i should have to run to an NPC to switch this every time. Its not making the game harder or more immersive, its making me waste more time running around doing absolutely nothing then actually enjoying the game.

Yes please, would like a PvE and PvP spec. You know those pvp talents are useless in PvE
