While not every new 55 will know this, they ought to do the Oricon story to get purple L53 gear. If the new 55 is in a guild, they should ask for help from their over-geared guild mates with the Oricon story, the guild mates can get the weekly while they help you. Then the new 55 will be geared well enough for tactical 55 FPs and SM GF ops, especially given the prevalence of overgeared Conquest-point-seeking veteran players in those groups.

I don't mind carrying an undergeared new 55, but there are some bosses in HM FPs and Ops that require just about everyone bring enough mitigation/heals/DPS. So if we are repeatedly wiping because someone is undergeared, I will vote to kick them. Sorry to do it, but it is no loss to the kicked player, because we were not going to make any progress with them in the group anyway. All we would do is rack up more repair bills, which in 180 gear is a fair piece of change.
Going Preferred January 31, 2015.

Not sure I'd want to heal a tank who was geared in that, but I'd give it a shot before forming a negative opinion.

Recommended gear levels are an average for the whole group. When a lot of the group is in 180 gear or better, you can have some undergeared people along. Heck, we almost 7-manned Bestia in DP in a GF 8m SM pug once, and it was standing in stupid that wiped us, not lack of DPS, Heals or tanks.

I am one of those patient people who will take the time, even multiple times per day. to help people understand run, boss fights, etc. I actually enjoy it.

However...that being said...i just got a juggernaut to lvl 55 on a NEW server using the 12x exp boost. withing ONE day on my weekend, running dailies, a few tactical Flashpoints, and spending some of my cash, and im up to 27k health, all purple 156 gear, and a few of them 162's. This is all without stepping into an HM FP, which i am perfectly geared for now (overgeared by a tad actually).

all without inconveniencing other people who had to do the same work as I did. I don't mind helping people who are new, and even carrying someone when the rest of the group is overgeared enough to compensate. But I would kick someone who dropped into any FP at lvl 55 in greens. there is absolutely no reason to do that currently aside from sheer lazyness. I love helping people who need it. I will NOT help people who are lazy. go do a days worth of dailies for pete's sake. the rest of us did.

EDIT:

I may have sounded a bit harsh there. in addition, if someone is appropriately geared for the FP or group run (whatever the min gear level is) and they get kicked then yes, it's horribad. but if they are, as in the example, running in greens in an HM FP, then they aren't a poor new player who is running what he needs. that player NEEDS the dailies and weekly daily runs. its like trying to run before you can even walk. everyone finishing Makeb should turn right around and run the weekly.

then go over to czerka and run the weekly there including the introduction series), that will net you at minimum a few pieces of blue lvl 53 gear, and the comms necessary for a few purple lvl 53 gear. and you can purchase a lvl 53 purple weapon. that in itself gets you 1/2 of the gear you need for the HM flashpoints. it really is that easy...you just need to start in the right place...instead of being lazy and trying to bypass all the stuff we had to do to get where we are.
"I just hit 50 and finished my class storyline, but I still haven't been able to decide which AC to choose. Leveling solo as a warrior wasn't difficult, so I kept putting off the decision.

I kick people with bad gear, they're a cancer to the rest of the group.

Interestingly, 168 gear is not 180 gear. I asked for an explanation of how to get 180 gear without doing 55 HM FPs and/or Operations, as thatPERSON claimed one can do.

The tactical 55 FPs themselves award basics (the GF daily and the weekly give elites). HM 55 FPs award elites (and the GF daily and the weekly award ultimates).
If you are a staunch soloist, you can buy 180 gear off the GTN for most slots. Note, I'm not saying that's what is needed for a groupfinder mission, but it can be done.

I'm referring to giving moddable gear and/or weapons to those sporting Blues of worse yet greens in the right side of the character sheet. I also offer to fill that gear with craftable stuff to help them out.

Yep, the new 12x 55s are queuing for 55 hard modes. It is not ending well
It's the latest version of the Kuat Kiddies.

Amazes me that people consider this game to be "hard" in any way, shape or form. Never-you-mind the endless documentation, guides and other sites available to assist. Never-you-mind the Mardi Gras rain of gear / comms that endlessly cascade down upon the player.

Entitlement generation. No other reason. Apparently simply because you can queue for a 55 HM FP (*), that means you should. And let me tell you, from experience - they do. Then, God forbid, the rest of the group doesn't want to carry them (and don't kid yourself - they are), well that's "harassment".

Look, if your guild is deliberately dragging you along in SM OP - that's their business. If I join your guild run, I accept that you are just there because you couldn't be arsed to read a guide or spend some time gearing yourself up, and now expect others to do so for you.

But in a PUG? Sheit. That's just as much my time as it is yours.

(*) Same phenomena in 50 FP. Had a 53 tank with 15k health. It wasn't just the gear, he didn't know how to hold aggro. He didn't understand group mechanics. So, after the summary kick a guildies 54 Operative (with 26k health) tanked 75% until Group Finder spit out a new one.

(**) Resident guild Sorc has group-kicked two bad tanks and finished the 55 HM FP with her Treek.

Bran,

Have you checked the GTN lately? 180 gear is being sold for 2.5m (at the lowest) but that is each piece.
