Easy to say learn to play. It's better to offer more corrective ideas then to say learn to play. It's not a learn to play issue. This 12X XP is supposed to be a perk not a crutch for pre ordering!

What exactly are you having problems with, then? What class are you playing? Do you just not have the damage to kill the mobs, if so, what abilities are you using?

I just can't seem to understand HOW people are having problems with mobs of that level. I've done Balmorra now a dozen times, all times without having bought anything for my characters and only using quest greens. The mobs go down fast anyway.

I like the boost but the gear not scaling with my advances is upsetting. I'm just crying because i was expecting a smooth sail to lvl 55. Now I actually have apply myself to level even with the xp boost.

I had a pretty smooth sail to 55 on my Merc with the boost. I used nothing by green drops and a few pieces of orange gear from low level heroics. Around level 25 I spent maybe 30k credits on the GTN to fill in some gaps with some additional low level green items. Around level 40 I spent about 25 planetary comms on some barrels and mods for the couple pieces of orange gear I was using. This took me all the way to 47 without much trouble. I died a few times on some of the more challenging fights, but it was usually just a one time death after clearing the adds that start with the boss, and then I'd revive and tackle the boss before the adds respawned without much trouble. On the one occasion I felt like I was hitting the wall hard, I quickly discovered I was missing a mechanic of the fight and needed to click an item in my inventory to short out the bosses shield so I could damage him. Once I figured that out, I rolled over the fight like it was nothing.

At 47, I went to Makeb, turned on Bolster and then proceeded to faceroll the planet until I was 55. With bolster on Makeb, you can solo the enter planet without a companion at all.

You don't have to be rich to gear up while leveling this quickly. When I hit Makeb at 47 on my merc, I was still wearing implants, earpiece, wrists and gloves that were level 21-25. I also had a backup plan that if I felt I was getting too weak compared to the mobs I was fighting, I was planning to run the daily FP for the 10 comms so I could upgrade the barrel in my weapon, but I ended up not needing to do that at all because at every point where I needed an upgrade, I had plenty of comms to upgrade 2-3 pieces of gear without spending more than half of the comms I had on hand.

I also didn't bother gearing my companions at all. I had Treek in his starter gear from level 10 until level 35ish. When Treek's gear finally became obsolete, I just switched to whatever new companion had the best gear. Then whenever I got a new companion after that, I would switch to the new companion, as they would typically have better starting gear than the one I had been using previously. The only exception to this being when I reached Makeb and bolster provided me with enough HP that I no longer needed a companion at all to survive. At this point I switched to any dps companion regardless of their gear. The mobs were all focused on me because my bolstered damage was beyond any companions ability to tank, so any companion who could deal damage and not die was preferable to a tank or healer companion.

Its possible I was very lucky and got better drops than others, but I didn't just run past everything and proceed straight to mission objectives all the time. If there was an army between me and my goal, I would dismount and carefully pull each group and clear a path to the goal rather than run to the end and try to drop the aggro. It slows down the leveling, but gives you a lot more chances at drops that can help a lot.

Without gear, things have been getting tougher and tougher for awhile now, but at this point they're pretty much impossible. It was workable when mobs and bosses were 2+ levels below me, but they're only a single level down now, and although I could be buying greens from the GTN a little more frequently, I still don't feel like this experience is within my expectations.

I imagine a lot of you are considering making this leap back into SWTOR for the same reason I did: To just see the stories. If that's what you're looking for, I think you'll regret the decision. I definitely do.

Thanks!
Run some Heroic in low level planet with your main, take some planetary commendation, take the mod/armoring/etc and send it to your alt.
Easy done in 1 hour.

I think maybe the issue is that SWTOR attracts two extremely divergent groups of players: People who really admire the production values and narratives it has to offer, and people more attracted to it as a game / MMO.

And then there are the really lucky people, who love both.

But even people only interested in the narrative want to experience the actual playing of the thing! YouTube is not the same as actually getting to experience it, even if the interaction is minimal.
Oh thank goodness, I'm one of the lucky ones because I love this game for the story content and the combat and everything else. I can't wait to get home and finish leveling my sniper to 50 so I can start on someone else.

As it should be.

Feel fortunate that you -- apparently -- don't have to pay to class trainers to learn new abilities with this buff.
Actually they do mention you can level "exclusively through class missions" http://www.swtor.com/shadow-of-revan...kt-t-us-hp-156 (click on ? mark next to "Limited-Time Class XP Boost").

I had to buy alot of gear to do chapter 2 finale of the Sith Warrior story line. I have max presence and all 4 buffs. A brand new player with 0 alts is going to have a hard time with the gear grind. They really did not think this through correctly.
