Just happened to me too. I'm now stuck at 9830 light side points. So stupid.

for those interested. When you hit 10k in light or dark, it then begins to subtract any further gained points from the other faction.

eg I had 10k darkside

did 2 light side +50 x 2 options and was at 9,900 darkside, 100 light, 10,000 dark.

did 1 dark side +50 option and was at 9,950 darkside, 50 light, 10,000 dark.

Ive been 50 for a week now and im still stuck at dark 9850. I made one wrong light choice now im stuck at dark 4 forever. Ive made more dark choices but it wont let me cap. Anyone know a fix? Is it because im not completing some quest.

Don't some of the crew skill options award light and dark points (diplomacy)? If so, you can add or subtract as needed... kinda like companion gifts from some gathering skills? If you need some more affection, just give a gift (purchasable too). Just don't give Kira a weapon gift, she doesn't like them..

Dark/Light side points are only added when you finish a quest. So, for example, if you make a 100pt Dark decision while on a quest, it will not be reflected in your character's information window until you hand that quest in.

This needs to be changed asap. We should be allowed to raise our alignment points at all times. I have a bunch of stuff i bought at lower levels that requires Dark V, and now i find out i can't even use it in the end. What a load of bull.

Indeed, can we have a developer response on this? Im not doing ANY instance as long as I dont know if I cant reach Dark V with a single light point. I can do without, since im 8900 and 1100 dark points is doable, but I want to be able to to instances..

think there is (heaven't tried it myself, but maybe some1 can confirm it?) quick and easy option to change from DS to LS or LS to DS at least on republic side - if your in 40-50 lvl bracket or max level u can run through esseles in less then 10-15 min - each run should grant you 300 points of LS/DS depending on your choices. so for example if you are 10k LS and u decided you want to be evil now run esseles aprox 34 times and u should fully switch to DS
