How is it different with a ship in play?

The flashpoint objective is the flashpoint objective. You can queue with guild-mates or solo. The presence or absence of a ship doesn't change this dynamic. Same is true of war zones, GSF, operations... all the conquest point generating activities that can be group oriented.

The only one that's truly solo is crafting, and that's solo, again, regardless the presence or absence of a guild ship.

Maybe you should add "illogical" to your list of buzzwords?

And how many parents would nag and complain if their kid's High School Football team were put in the same league as professionals?

How many kids would still be left in the league? I mean, they don't have the training / talent / physicality, the equipment, the medical facilities, etc to compete...

Just because they share a common field, doesn't mean they're competing against them.

If you aren't competing, then really are all you are asking for is for everyone to get planetary bonuses? Because that's basically the only difference between having a guild ship and not having a guild ship if you aren't competing...

Edit: Noting that it's the only functional difference. Also noting that "you" is being used generally, not personally.

Who said you have do do these things by yourself? Getting the guild to work together to get the ship is a group effort.
If the guild is not willing to share a common goal, then what are actually the chances of them succeeding at conquests?

What's the point of doing them together exactly? To waste someone else's time too?

Their chance is much higher than if they don't have a ship.

So, having the ship somehow magically makes people want to complete their own conquest goals? Those goals are there all the time, with or without the ship. All the ship does is to provide bonus points. It does not provide any extra objectives.
If guildmates cannot be arsed to help each other, what are the chances of them actually getting anywhere near Top10? Because otherwise, their rewards are the same as they would be without the ship.

I am sorry, but at this point I am unable to figure out your logic...

Is the thinking that having the bonuses makes them more likely to stick with conquests longer because they have a shiny new toy to rally around?
Is the thinking that giving them a ship increases small guilds chances of making top 10 because they get planetary bonuses?
Even in both arguments, the only way the guild expands said ship (the carrot on the stick if you will) is through Leaderboard placement and Commander kills; or you can grind credits and buy encryptions and frameworks from the GTN. A guild incapable of banding together for 50 mil is highly likely to be a guild lacking in the resources to successfully do any of those...

In that case, their shiny new toy will never be upgraded and they become discouraged by a lack of progress.

Again, I don't see this as healthy for the game.

If this was an option at the very start of launch, do you know what would happen? Every guild with an eye for conquests would get this super cheap ship to launch invasions from rather than spend the money for the bigger ship. That is, if this fantasy ship had a comparable conquests bonus to guild ships. Big and/or well organized guilds still win.

If this ship had a nearly non existent bonus for conquest points, nobody serious about making the leaderboard would buy it. Still stuck in the same situation.
Ya we don't need no stinkin fix for small guilds...

It is totally ok that anyone not in a huge guild do twice the work for half the rewards. It was an AWESOME design concept, really it was...

Define "small guild"... because a guild of 12-15 active people can place on the leaderboards.

So... if the guilds you are speaking of are smaller than that, they aren't conquest guilds. They're perhaps a progression guild, ranked pvp guild, or a social group.

And you know what, that's okay... the rewards for placing are self-serving to the guild ship anyways and not *every* guild needs to do Conquest.
