They do in fact have this. It is called a subscription.

The only way this kind of thing works is if there is some way to exchange the cash shop currency among players (STO's Dilithium exchange) or a way to directly sell the game time to other players (EVE PLEX, or whatever Wildstar calls theirs, ArcheAge too, I believe).

at this point, I just feel like I don't owe it to anyone to engage them in conversation when their whole attitude is one of slander, put downs, and name calling, and then patting themselves on the back for it, figurative or literal.

in the past, I might have blatantly called out these people on said behavior, but that really never accomplished anything anyway. Those people continue to act out in that manner and see nothing wrong with how they disrespect others, yet are the first to cry when they feel themselves or the game is somehow disrespected, regardless of the legitimacy of the comments.

Rather than let these chronic trolls continue to derail a thread discussion with their accusations and flame baiting, I have reached the point where a simple smart Alec response better defuses these attempts at derailment. Therefore, this allows us to summarily dismiss their attempts and get back to the actual subject matter at hand.

so, forgive me if I get a little bit silly at times now, but I find humor to be the very best medicine when it comes to disinfecting yourself of troll bait.

I think it should, and I think that there should be an ability to earn coins in game other than some achievements.

I would suggest they add the ability to earn coins engaging in certain parts of the game that Bioware wishes to promote. I have listed examples before and will not relist them here.

As far as cost, I think it should be more expensive in coins than it is in straight cash....I would say 2000 coins for 30 days.

Yes because it's a way to show that they care about poorer (irl) players and give them options. Hey, look. Someone will have to spend money to buy that sub for them in the first place, right?

But then again - something would have to be done about credit limit because monthly sub would be at least 10k coins, which is about 10 mil.

well.. technically... if they are buying subscription item and then keep buying subscription item before their time runs out - they don't have to worry about credit limit in a first place, as they would effectively be subscribers.

if subscription gift item is sold for real money, but then can be resold on GTN, I genuinely don't see the downside. bioware still gets the money since you cannot just spend cartel coin grant on it, have to buy it with real life money, just like character transfer, more people get to enjoy the perks of subscription, people who are cash rich, credit poor get a guaranteed way of staying supplied with credits in addition to already existing "sell packs on GTN" (except in this case - bioware gets more money out of it, since packs you can buy with monthly grant, while subscription you wouldn't be able to) and everyone wins.

the only outcry against it that I'm seeing is to be honest in a vein of "the person who buys it of GTN will be playing for free!" but honestly, how is it any different from someone buying unlocks with credits instead of cartel coins? who cares how someone paid for they subscription as long as bioware gets the money for it?

In-game credits could be converted to real currencies and vice versa. Just like in EVE where 19,95USD is currently 798 million ISK. This would change the prices in GTN.

they already are. becasue you know people buy packs and they buy unlocks and they buy mounts and toys and armors and then they sell them on GTN. and I guarantee you that only a fraction of all that stuff is bought with monthly grant... real life money is being converted into credits. all the time. and I'm not seeing any way to convert it credits into real life money here. like... honestly... explain to me exactly how would people be able to convert in game credits into real life currency (unless you are talking credit sellers, and that also is happening and its also illegal, so people get banned for it)

so... how would selling subscription tokens significantly change the economy where you already buy weekly flashpoint/operation/warzone/etc passes along with various permanent unlocks of unify colors and ability to use artifact armor variety.
