Revanites, the 3rd Faction in the Old Republic

Awful idea. The game doesn't need a 3rd faction and is highly unlikely to get one.

Annoyingly it just means everyone will be fighting the same enemy. Again. For a galaxy where there's supposed to be a war on, the 2 sides in the war do keep getting sidetracked by 3rd parties quite a lot.

Anybody else getting tired of having to fight the same enemy regardless of whether your a Pub or an Imp.

Bringing Revan back in... and the whole, 'he's attacking both the empire and republic' are merely mechanics to give us, again, one common operation/enemy regardless of faction to clear.

Isn't it about time to tell Revan he's boring and go back to fighting the actual opposition? Or is this pseudo alliance between the republic and empire to be maintained through the whole of the game leading to things like a Sith and a SIS agent getting cozy in a safe house together despite being (supposedly) loyal to their respective factions?

Until EA pulls the plug, I believe it's high-time people get used to the idea.

The war is over and both Republic and Empire will wear themselves down by engaging an ever rising third faction repeatedly. Eventually, once both are out of manpower, resources or both, they'll forget why they were fighting to begin with and merge with one another.

Factions will never be removed. The game is built around them. They'll justify it with story reason ("ongoing tension,," etc.), but they're ingrained in the way the game is structured. Blizzard itself even noted that factions were a bad call, and that there is no good reason they should remain in the game from a lore point of view, but it's simply too much effort to do away with them at this point. Combined with player backlash, it's never going to happen. And if it's too much trouble for the behemoth to tackle, you're kidding yourself if to think BioWare is up to the task.

Don't get me wrong - much love to BioWare for what they've accomplished with SW:TOR. But that's the harsh reality of the situation - they have neither the resources nor the personnel to tackle this, even if they wanted to. EA had them emulate too much of WoW's structure - even the bits that Blizzard admitted weren't working for the game.

Who said they were going to be removed?

The merging part will presumably only happen BEFORE EA pulls the plug, to provide some closure, story wise. Way further down the road hopefully.

I highly doubt that much effort would go into something for no reason. Getting the "plug pulled" is rather ignominious.

The merging would take place off-screen. We would NEVER get to see it in the actual game obviously.

We will then be able to decide to defect from our current faction and join together for the greater cause!

It'll be a pleasant surprise the day when BioWare attempts something bold. Alright, I'm just gonna get ready for the serious people who always use the budget excuse as to why BioWare couldn't do this and can't do that.
No, Revan is the last boss in a new op, nothing more.

Heil ... ? Riiiiggghhttt.

You know there is an English spelling to that word and invariably the people who use the German spelling have curious sympathies.

Absolutely where I believe it's headed. I've stated so for nearly a year too.
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force
